From ESPNBoston.com:
Slugger Ted Williams will win a spot on a U.S. postage stamp next year.
The last baseball player to hit .400 for a season, the Boston Red Sox star will be honored on a "Forever" stamp, part of a set featuring baseball players.
Also included will be Larry Doby, Willie Stargell and Joe DiMaggio, whose stamps were announced earlier.
Williams topped the .400 mark in 1941 and hit .344 during a 19-year career, including 521 home runs.
He missed all or part of several seasons while serving in World War II and Korea, and was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1966.
He later became manager of the Washington Senators and was named American League manager of the year.

Perhaps the "Splendid Splinter" can single handedly put the Post Office in the black??
Oooops! I forgot! This new stamp will require 100 new federal hires to create, sell, & STUDY this stamp. It WILL also require new Federal hiring of diversity trainers. who can study how this stamp makes sub .300 hitters feel!!! Perhaps this will lead to new federal regulations for MLB hiring. You know..... There are actually many players who were never allowed to see a split finger fastball until their minor league experience! How can this be fair!?!?!
Actually????? This could create a lot of "shovel ready jobs" for trophy makers, as the MLB will likely be required to hand out trophies to all players for their "individual special roll playing abilities?"

He should have two stamps names after him. One for his war exploits.
Either way, I doubt my dim-witted postal carrier would bother to deliver it.
