can't believe Boldt is still on the board.  I don't think the Sox will be able to move around enough money to sign him and Denney, but I'd like to see them try....it could make this draft look really really good.

Looks like another high risk high reward highschooler.  I'll take it over a bunch of college senior relievers.

I thought they would probably go the HS/juco route this draft due to all the talent in the higher levels. Looks like I was right on that one. This strategy should keep a steady stream of talent flowing so bridge years are less likely. Some college kids, but a lot of 18-19 yr olds in there so far.

    Re: The Draft

They will start signing more upside guys in the 10th round.

Anyone they fail to sign here, they would still lose their slot money no matter what.  This is what makes having the 7th pick all that much more important.

I would be dissapointed if they didn't take at least one more high upside guy with their next pick.

It seems that most of these kids, from what Im reading, should sign.

They did the same thing this year as they did last; as did every other team.  They signed a lot of college seniors or other guys who would sign for below slot.  If you don't sign a guy you lose all that slot money until after the 10th.  They lose nothing if they don't sign anyone.

This is where having the7th pick will really come in handy (besides having the 7th pick.) starting tomorrow I think we see a lot more well regarded prospects go early and we will be right there...I'd love to go after Tellez or Boldt tomorrow.  I don't think we really signed any big upside guys after Buttrey last year.  I think they are more bold tomorrow.

Not that i have a clue; but I don't they've definitely saved money so far...they can probably afford t sign two big guystomorrow.
