Re: The Great Softlaw Calling out Beat Bilger Peter Abraham (JD Drew is like Cal Ripken, Jr. Compared to Ellsbury)

In response to Softlaw1's comment:
Until he broke his ankle, Stephen Drew went on the DL twice in his career. He's not his brother.
JD Drew averaged 131 games a season in the first four years of his five year contract with the Red Sox. In the last year, he was 35 years old and was benched to a back-up/platoon role.
The notion that JD Drew was a DL permanent resident like Ellsbury is utterly absurd. Peter, you've made this silly comment that Ellsbury may end up back with the Red Sox and that would be good. Ellsbury couldn't keep up with JD Drew, when it comes to showing up for work, in his twenties. No way should the Red Sox pay FA years for Ellsbury. If they con't have a better value and fit by then, on the farm, they have the great old man Shane on the books for nearly 40 million dollars!
As for Peter's high praise for S. Drew, S. Drew is damaged goods. But even assuming he's not, he should not be compared to his much more talented older brother, JD.
Paying nearly 10 million for S. Drew was a value and fit mistake, Peter. The comparisions to JD are wrong, but not for the absurd reasons you are projecting.
Do some research, Peter, for a change.
His audience is who? red sox fans. If the stigma among RS fans is that JD was fragile then when you read his statement you know he is addressing that stigma. Idiotic Rs fans want to lump S Drew in with his bro because he got injured Abraham is trying to deter people from labeling Stephen Drew just as RS fans did to Nancy Drew. Your reading into it a bit much there softy.
