Bill-806 is doing the political rants while Harv53 and Alibi Ike are off to the shuffleboard court in Pensacola. They too were in the Navy for 45 years and are very patriotic.

Never thought I would have to ignore any of these posters on this board and certainly never thought it would be "Mr Bill" but his rhetoric is almost as unintelligible as the talking heads on the "news". So like your brain had done to you years ago, I too will put you on ignore. Bye Bye and an "86" to Bill 806! Can't believe I haven't done this to Softlaw in my 5+ years of lurking and it is a sad comment on just how unmeasured or reasoned your responses can be. Don't get me wong, Mr. Hanky should be flushed down the toilet as well, but at least he usually just sticks to baseball these days!

Bill I don't expect you to understand but it's disrespectful regardless of whether one is liberal or conservative.

Not only disrespectful, but also really stupid...unsurprising, coming from you as it does.

    Re: The Navy

    Go to Sea..

    Drink Coffee...

    Deploy the Marines...

Actually, as a former Marine, I have to admit that the Marines are the Navy's infantry and my paychecks used to say "Department of the Navy" so I feel entitled to poke a little fun at the swabbies !!!

    Hmmm...isn't this a sports forum ???

PS...I said in a Celtic forum that the Lakers comeback from 17 down in 4th qtr to beat the Thunder was tantamount to Charleston Heston splitting the Red Sea but could not compare to the achievement of the Yankees( I hate equally with the Lakers) coming back from 0-9 to put 15 on the board.

I'm just glad I taught you how to spell "infamy", Bill.  All this posting has not been a total waste of time.

hey why don't all you chuckleheads lay off of Bill for cripes sake. all he was doing was making a metephor is all. I knew what he meant by saying that the debackle of getting crushed after leading by 9 just might have woken up this team like a sleeping giant etc etc etc. Bill wasn't out to be disrespectful or hurt anybodies feelings. The guy happens to love the boston red sox and so do I so cut him some slack.

    Scholars, please:

The correct phrase is "a date which will live in infamy."

"Here We Go Again" (Remember who use to say that all the time Bill?) You really don't have to have Lib/Left/Moonbat in every post. We already know that in your opinion "Lib/left/moonbat is the cause for everything that has gone wrong in the world and beyond. Soooooo how about keeping the subject on baseball.

    Posted by Hammah29r2
Thanks Hammah.....  It's obvious that you are one of the few responders that read the original thread......  And I really hope that tonight in the Twin Cities our beloved Red Sox starts the long road back on the right foot !!    Have you ever seen such a circus coming out of fenway park, since maybe circa 1966 ??????  Thanks again for your common sense !!

" Personally I find it odd and wrong to associate the team with Pearl Harbor."

Agreed, totally inappropriate. But remember Bill sees the world not in terms of character but in terms of ideology.

Bill FYI the Sox are run as a capitalist business, professional baseball is not socialism. There is no federal funding of baseball.

p.p.s. Please give Theo some of your fresh hot blame pie also (Crawford, Lackey)

If this were 1952 Bill-806 would have been run from the board for making light of Pearl Harbor. I dare say Ted Williams and 99% of the rest of America would have had a problem with it.

Let us know when we can make fun of 9/11 Bill.

Bill, maybe you meant something other than what you actually said(Which woudn't surprise me, the English language does not seem to be your strong point), but what you said was Saturday would live in infamy, a direct reference and comparison with the attack on pearl Harbor. Also, in a subsequent post you said you knew that people would take offense.

    Posted by Roadrunner9234
One more shot at "SPLAINING"......  1/ America was asleep prior/at Pearl Harbor... 2/ Then the event.... 3/ Then the rest is history....... As to the Red Sox yank$ series. 1/ Friday, on the birthday was bad enough, but very emotional....... 2/ Saturday, with a 9-1 cushion and 3 innings to go, the roof fell in.......3/ Point being, just like in one of biggest bad days in HISTORY,(Pearl Harbor) saturdays event (14 unanswered runs from the BP) could/should/"HOPE" to have the same response from our heros (red sox) as how our men, women & country responded in 1941-1945 & beyound !!!    Sorry if my "P C" is not up to par with the "warm & fuzzy" generations of today...... BTW, If Ted Williams was with us today, he certainly would understand and agree on how the YANK$ had their way with us (Sox) !!!!!

Bill, nobody needs you to explain your metaphor. But it's like when either the current president or his predecessor is referred to as Hitler. It's insulting to those who suffered under the nazi regime. Get it?
