The Obvious has happened - Buchholz won't start Tuesday and they should have DL'd him to get the extra arm

I mentioned this five days ago. They could have an extra bullpen arm, but instead they waited around for the obvious, Clay Buchholz won't be ready for Tuesday, which would be his 10th day without playing.

DL him and bring Wilson back.

Let's see.....the last 3 threads you started were about Doubrant hindering the team, WMB should be sent to Paw. and the trade deadline is the be all end all to salvage our horrible season.  Now another thread complaining about seomthing else.  I'm starting to think your mom and dad didn't bring you your lunch and meds to the basement today??

    For real kiddo.....relax.

    Who cares?

They took a chance that the injury was minor. It took longer to heal than expected. No big deal.

Yeah, especially when they don't have enough bullpen arms, short a position player.

U can't bring Wilson back for 10 days....unless it is for the double header.

and if he goes on the DL it is back dated to June 9th

Aceves or Ruby De La Rosa would get the start

why are u whining about this?

As pointed out when you started the origiinal thread they did what they wanted to do and it has worked.
Aceves gave them 6 in a win, Dempster 7.2 in a loss, Lackey 5.2 in a win and 7 in a win, Doubrant 4.2 in a loss and Lester 4.2 in a loss.

Now as the facts show none of the losses were due to the BP in any way shape or form as a matter of fact in the 6 inning W by Aceves and 5.2  inning W by Lackey the BP came through quite admirably.

They can now DL Clay back to the 9th and lose nothing. They also are able to bring up Aceves again for the next spot start as well as De La Rosa.

If anything was gained it was if Clay was fine in a couple of days they did not lose him for 15 days and two starts.

ADG leave the player shuffle to the real GM PLEASE

Goes back to last Saturday, so hes already a week deep, would be 10 days by Tues, so hed be eligible next Sunday or Monday. Not a huge deal to be honest. All youd need is one more good start out of Aceves, although I will say that it would be against TB again, and they may solve him this time.

Re: The Obvious has happened - Buchholz won't start Tuesday and they should have DL'd him to get the extra arm

Silly OP.  Sox management has moved players up and down from/to Pawtucket and off and on the DL with great skill.  Despite the doubleheader last Saturday and the two extra innings games, the bullpen is doing pretty well, especially after two straight games, Friday and Saturday, in which they pitched 2.1 innings total.

The Buchholz thing was not obvious and still isn't.  It could have gone away and allowed the best pitcher in the AL to get another start, but it didn't, but it was certainly worth the gamble.

ADG appears to be convinced Sox management is incompetent despite the huge turnaround from 2012.  Go figure.

Has nothing to do with incompetence. It would just make sense at this point to get an extra player, especially with Napoli out also.

They have been doing a great job of shuffling players ADG. Not sure why you cant see this.  Wilson, De La Rosa and De La Torre have all been brought up this week, with Wilson and DLT helping out tremendously. Mort was put on the DL to make it happen. Buch's DL stint doesnt start now, it starts a week ago. BC has worked this pitching situation to perfection.

Naps got examined in Boston and we should know more very soon, and if he will need to go on the DL or not. They've given WMB some work at 1b recently. Not that he would be moved there, but its certainly interesting .

I just hope we continue to get decent pitching and enough offense because Clay has never been a 200 inning guy.  Withour Clay, Jon also needs to get his act together again.  If we pick up a big win today it makes the last 7 games pretty productive.

I dont think Buch will ever be a dependable 200IP guy. I think the Sox realize this too and need Lester to step up now, but have also made it apparent in the draft. They seem to mostly value pitchers who are between 6'2-6'7 and north of 200LBS.

Buch will be a solid contrubuter, but Id say hes a 28 game a year pitcher with between 180-200IP. His body type just cant hold up for a full 162+ playoffs MLB season. Doesnt mean hes not a stud when hes in there, just that this is who I think he is going forward.
