The Rays Are Not Going Away part XVI

I guess Moonslav was right, and Salty can stop bashing him now.  Not only are they alive and well, our team is forced to hold on for dear life...

And as always when wrong, Softy disappears and ignores the thread so in his mind he is still correct.  Must be nice to always be right and never face the music!

Red Sox are 94.1% playoff bound. Rays are 5.3%. 2 weeks to go, and its all over but he math.

    Do the math yourself:  .556 x 162 = 90 wins.

    My projection 90-92 wins.

    Your projection 86-88 wins.

Baseball doesn't work that way; there's ebb and flow, not random probabilities: Ask the '51 Dodgers, '64 Phillies, '69 Cubs, 73 Pirates, '74 Red Sox, '78 Red Sox, '87 Blue Jays, '93 Giants, and '07 Mets, amongst others.

We have played abysmal ball all month, unsure when we last two in a row, and Tampa has played better than .500 ball since April... they are on fire. Why would anyone expect us to all of a sudden win 3 or 4 straight? When was the last time our 3, 4, or 5 starter didn't give up 5+ runs? When was the last time either are 1 or 2 starter pitched past the 6th inning prior to tonight?

I was quite happy to see Lester go 7, and tonight was just one of those nights the offense needed to do more. 107 pitches by Lester and a full 7 innings are good marks. 4 runs is not the end all when you pitch that deep.

My projection was 87 to 89 wins. You wanted Adam Dunn over Ortiz.

I wanted Dunn to play LF over Crawford.

    Your lies never end.

You wanted mikey to platoon with Papi, then bashed me for calling for Papi to sit vs most LHPs if we had anyone better. You wanted Papi sent to the minors. Now you pretend to be his only all along supporter.

Who wanted Dunn? Not I. That guy is a disaster, the only salvation is he would never have been signed to a 7 year deal.

I don't recall solid minds such as moon supporting Dunn, I thought only the nutty's wanted that  Laughing

I wanted Dunn more 3 years ago when he signed for cheap.

I mentioned him last year as an option for LF/1B, before we got AGon.  I never had him high on my list last winter.

I Iggy'd him 3 times in a month, but it's hard to keep up with all the name changes. It's easier to keep track of his position changes.

I pegged his L. Paul act in his first post.

This is for the off-season more but I know the contract to Crawford has sealed Elles fate. Now we run the risk of having to find a CF and a RF for the future sometime between this winter and 2013.

Farm does not mean much until they prove they are that good. Donnie Sadler, Cesar Saba, Phil Plantier, Mark Fisher, Brian Rose, ...... shall I go on?

Elles is likley having a career year, and I believe he will be very good for many years more. However he may not match or surpass these numbers again.  It will be tough to re-sign him because now he is worth Crawford money. Nothing like tying up $300 million in two players, neither of who are Ted Williams let alone AGon.

lol. Point is they will let Elles walk because they did not believe in him enough. No way do they carry both Crawford and Elles. Then we will get stuck with some half-wit in center for less money and less ability.

Re: The Rays Are Not Going Away part XVI

I think it's too early to tell.

    Plantier hit .331 in '91 (174 PA's).
He then fizzled, as those you spoke of may also.
Masty has had one good year.
    Lowrie can't stay healthy.
Lavernway may end up on a new Lavern & Shirley for all we know.
Reddick I believe will be a contributor, but he's not proven yet.
