Our team simply has very poor pitching outside of the big three and little talent on the farm to pick up the slack.  No excuses, when a team like Tampa can score more runs on Boston than the Orioles our team simply isn't ready to contend unless we crawl into the playoffs and Clay is healthy.

Outside of Clay, Josh and Jon we have Bedard hurt and Aceves who we simply refuse to pitch ahead of guys like Weiland,  Three hits against a decent but not "lights out" pitcher and we deserve to lose.  All you long time experts can talk all the trash you want to back our problems but the truth is in what we all watch.

FYI: Casey had eye surgery this past off season.

Just remember it was not only the RS who let him go he has played for 6 teams in4 years.
He hit 217 for Sea last year.BTW the only reason he is on the Rays roster is because Manny was suspended since Casey was sent to Durham at the end of ST.

So this by some will be considered an awesome move by the Rays and Maddon...and dumbazz move by the RS
However the truth is they got damn lucky with Casey when Manny was sent packing considering Casey never even made the MLB roster and was only signed to a minor League contract.

How is it that Pike thinks HE personally owns the forum and everyone must abide by his rules?

I knew that if Kochman did well then it had to be blamed on the Red Sox FO. A scapegoat is always needed. Theo was blamed for signing Kochman and is now wrong for letting him  go. Typical.

Brilliantdeduction. Who did you think would get the blame? Your local mail carrier? The Rays got Pena and Kotchman and they produced in Tampa. Pena never had or was given a chance in Boston. That's on ther FO.

Kotchman deal was made for versatile Hall. It worked out for a year. Now it looks bad. Same can be said for the Masterson deal. Teams make trades with short/long term in mind. It's not gonna be one way or the other.

Contending is costly in this regard.

Kotchman is having a great year.  But, that opportunity was made possible by having an every day job.  You can't compare a bench guy who gets limited run with an every day guy.  It is very hard to hit when you are not getting regular at-bats.  Hitting is all rhythm, timing, and comfort with live game pitching.  Its apples and oranges to compare Red Sox Casey with Rays Casey.

...sometimes I shake my head when all possibilities are not considered. Casey Kotchman has to be a consideration for comeback of the year in 2011.
