No more good ole boy contracts for Wastefield and Varitek. A one year extension offer to David Ortiz.

Are you nuts?  Both of them were rehired year to year.

And because of that they weren't offered contracts this year.

    Your point?

No, in fact, Varitek and Wastefield were gifted at least 2 contracts after failing to produce in old age.

I suppose Tek "gifted" the Sox a good season in 2010 then with a .766 OPS as a backup catcher.

Even last year he had a .723 OPS in 68 games (nearly half of the season!) as a backup, making a mere $2M.  Who exactly was the cheaper alternative who knew how to work with this pitching staff?

As easy and fun it is to mock Softlaw/Mr. Hanky, he's obviously just playing a part....don't angry up the blood.

Wow, the wooden human passed ball finished the season on the shelf and was so good at backup catcher that he was finally kicked to the proverbial curb. I guess he stunk in 2011, so says the market for a player begging for another gift contract.

Not to mention he was the only catcher in which the redsox were over 500 in games he caught....

Why must we keep talking about Varitek and Wakefield?  I am still ecstatic their are gone, and really hearing their names all the time only gives me the creeps.

Wakefield won 186 games for the Sox, averaging 11 wins per season.

Chillwomp thinks making fun of someone is calling them genocidal. Needless to say, his comments come with a silo of drivel.

How old are you, Softy?  Your childish, pathetic little nicknames are neither funny nor clever.  If you're over 19 you should be really ashamed of yourself.

Re your "genocidal" comment, as usual you are being economical with the truth.  The actual truth is that on the old "Religion and Sports" thread a poster persisted in posted quotes from the bible.  I asked him why, he didn't respond, so I started posting quotes from Richard Dawkins, one of which was:

“The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.”

As soon as I posted it I realised how much it reminded me of you and burst out laughing, so I immediately paraphrased it and made it my tag line.

Even funnier, you bitterly complained about only a handful of the adjectives including "genocidal", "bloody ethnic cleanser" and "infanticidal" - all unlikely to be true, IMO - but therefore effectively accepting all the others.  Hahaha.  And you're still going on about it!

And I'm still laughing at you.

If you are over the age of one, you should seek help for cognitive and behavioral developmental cessation. Sometimes genetics produces disturbed minded fools who, in attempt to vent malice with wit, clumsily describe themselves instead of those they are attempting to attack. There is no greater stupid fool on this board than you.

Richard Dawson's excuse for idiocy is punch drunkeness. You have no such excuse.

It's as if Dawkins was on this board....it really describes you well!:

unpleasant - the way you write about everyone and everything is very unpleasant - look at the disrespectful way you have been writing about Wakefield and Varitek!
jealous and proud of it - you are constantly moaning about the popularity of Moon's "Realistic" threads.
petty - you never let anything go, everything (unions, veteran players, Democrats, ad nauseum) are all part of a giant conspiracy
unjust - you rarely address a question, rarely go on record with a prediction.  You cherry pick minor points to respond to, your comments are all weasel words that you can later use to "prove" either side of any argument.
unforgiving control-freak - you always need to get in the last word
vindictive -all you seem to want to do is cause anguish and hurt, you're the poster child for vindictive
bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser - I have seen no evidence
misogynistic - I can't think of any examples right now.....
    homophobic - your specialist subject!
racist - your awful posts about Ellsbury's ethnicity
infanticidal - I have seen no evidence
genocidal - I have seen no evidence
filicidal - I have seen no evidence
pestilential - I have seen no evidence
megalomaniacal - you've spent years going on about your glittering legal career, your gold hoard, your children's "top university" (that turned out to be a state university, har har)
sadomasochistic - you have spent years abusing people, forming dysfunctional relationships, and generally being obnoxious and making everyone, including yourself, miserable
capricious - nope, not you.  Everything you do/say is working toward your awful, wicked, selfish personal agenda.
malevolent - absolutely, you are gratuitously mean to everyone bar the tiny number of people that occasionally agree with you on something.
bully - everyone you disagree with is an idiot, or uneducated, or in thrall to "the NYT", etc.
