In Response to Re: Theo Thinks He Built The Boston Red Sox. Wrong, The Fans Did.:
[QUOTE]Theo did not build the Sox, but he was a significant cog in the engine that did . . . over the past 8 years, we (the fans) saw more success and stability than has been seen in decades . . . for a while, the three headed monster of ownership, management and coaching worked together great and brought us a vastly improved Fenway Park, 2 WS Titles, and a tremendous amount of fun/memories with very productive and colorful personalities we'll never forget (Heidi included). Things were great and we can only hope they'll be great again . . . Good Luck to both Theo and Terry, they were huge parts of a great run . . . I hope Theo takes the Cubs to the WS -- and we get to beat them!!! rather than do our usual routine of throwing everyone that leaves under the bus, let's realize how good the times were and hope that ownership can arrange a similar scenario going forward.

Great post and I agree with you.  I really can't understand the hatred of Theo by some Red Sox fans.

Right, the Red Sox won 2 WS inspite of Theo and Tito.

Odd, the Duke wasn't able to win with basically the same team the red sox had in 2004 (with the exception of Nomar) but Theo gets no credit for the 2004 win nor the 2007 win.

    Odd?

Odd as in the 2003 ALCS when Grady Little made the blunder of all blunders? Odd when Theo Pet Tim Wakefield gave up the moonshot to Aaron Boone that kept the 2003 Red Sox out of a World Series they could have won easily?

    Oh you mean that odd?

Everybody knows the 2004 Red Sox World Series team was built while Theo was fetching coffee for Lucchino.

For those that think Theo did nothing or gutted the teams please take note of the additions to the
    2004 Team
Foulke, Schilling, OC, Doug M, Pokey and Belhorn.

The 2005 team was pretty much the same except Pedro and we know how well he did in NY. And we all know Lowe had worn out his welcome in Boston.

If you look at the 2007 vs 2008 the basic difference was adding Bay vs Manny and the stats for the two were pretty much a wash.

Yep there were some bad moves but to say the teams were gutted or destroyed is a whole lot of exageration IMHO.
