[QUOTE]Actually the Red Sox team that won the world series was built by Duquette.

Yep, common sense and logic dictate that it had to be 100 percent built by Duquette or else 100 percent due to Theo. It is a binary problem, either black or white. There is no middle ground or a gray area here. Great post Figment, now go back to your dog care forum.

[QUOTE]Realistically, neither Theo nor we fans built to Red Sox.  Dan Duquette acquired a number of key players with the Varitek and Lowe trade acquisition for Heathcliff Slocumb, the trade acquisition of Pedro Martinez and the signing of Johnny Damon and Manny Ramirez.  Certainly Theo tweaked the Red Sox with players like Ortiz, Millar, Schilling, Foulke, Mueller, Bellhorn etc. but the nucleus was there Thanks to Dan.

Take a look at the WAR values in BR.  The majority of the WAR was contributed by Theo's guys, and the majority of the salary was spent on DD's guys.

Damon, Tek, Manny, Nixon, Youk, Nomar, Pedro, Wake, and Lowe were DD's guys.  They combined for a WAR of 20.1 for $80M.  Theo's guys were Schilling, Papi, Millar, Mueller, Reese, Bellhorn, Mendoza, Embree, Timlin, and Foulke for a WAR 24.2 and a cost of $36M.

Nothing wrong with being a DD fan, but the numbers are clearly on Theo's side.
