If  Hughes joins Jeter, A-Rod, Teixeira, Granderson, and Rapada, Yanks would have over $90 mil in payroll on DL to start the year.

Wells owed $42M over next two seasons. Angels almost certainly would pay bulk

Haha, perfect. Another high dollar underachiever headed to NYY. Doesnt bother me much to hear this, might even be good news.

Vernon Wells reportedly headed to Yankees. Never been an athlete paid more for less output. He makes Mike Hampton feel like a coupon

Granderson isn't out for the season but until May. In millions this will cost the Yankee in single digits.

Angels pay $32 million to rid themselves of Vernon Wells. Red Sox paid just $12 mil to ship out Gonzalez, Crawford and Beckett

Exactly. What the Red Sox paid was $12M + Gonzalez to get rid of Beckett, Crawford and Punto. Although we did get a couple of nice looking young pitchers in the deal.

Probably because their revenue and attendance will be more than anyone of those 15 teams.

This appears to be the worst NYY team in maybe 22 yrs. However, the 28 WC NYY haven't won south of 87 games (Which was the 2000 WC) since then (Adjusted for strike years). And did you check the standings last yr? It was the worst RS team in 47 yrs, and while the NYY season ended badly, they won 95 games & the Division.  And the yr before that? And so on for a while? When the RS finish ahead of them (something the majority of experts aren't expecting even this yr), then maybe you can talk.

That is still a compelling NYY factoid. My guess is they'll finish ahead of the RS regardless; unless the SP folds, which can always happen.
