Again it's not about the return. It's about dumping contracts to get financial freedom from Theo's insane contracts.
Loney is a good fielder .284 career BA and . 764 OPS.
    A stopgap for the season.

And please tell us what the hell they've won with Gonzalez that makes moving his so unthinkable?.
An NL player couldn't hit NL pitching? Seriously?
What about Miguel Carbrera, Josh Hamilton, Prince Fielder, Vlad Gurerro, Paul Konerko, Albert Pujols, Jose Bautista, Gonzalez himself,......
Should I keep going, or do you get the point?
The last three All Star games and last two World Series were won by the National Legue.
    WAKE UP!

If we bring in Loney to play 1B, I will be right here to say I told you so.  250/260 average, 10 to 15 HRS and a below 320 OBP if he plays in the AL.  Thats my prediction and Im sticking too it.

Nope, I just know the difference between a player who has talent and skin to play here and those who don't.  We would need a master plan to put this guy at 1B over Adrian.

Lee is old news and he was withdrawn by the Phils.
    It's a 72 hour window to make a trade.
So, who played 1st base for the Sox in 2004?
Lease important position on the field.

I see us dumping Beckett when all is said and done.  Crawford just came off TJ and for us to throw Adrian in, it would need to be a signiciant return, not just Rizzo or Loney and the couple other youngsters mentioned.

If Beckett goes and Lackey has a good ST he will also be gone sometime next season.

No he is not very good, they have to take him to fill the vacum now that Agon is going.

Bringing Loney here isn't the point craze. It's just a stop gap to get them through the rest of this year. For that matter, Ortiz could play 1b occasionally too. In fact, I really don't see why the Sox don't do that more often.

Loney is a free agent. I doubt that the Sox sign him. Looking ahead , a guy like Middlebrooks could move to first. Ciriaco could play third. And , Bogaerts could move to third, also. Iglesias seems like a better shortstop than Bogaerts anyway. Time to get younger.
