I still expect tonight's game to be very competitive and the Yankees should have a good chance of winning.  Despite the fact that Verlander is pitching.

    what's the expression susan

'From your mouth to God's ears'

I think so too, yanks are 2-1 vs vern this yr

scored 5 runs off him twice

of course hughes has to do his part but the big park should help him

I also agree with anybody but the cards

               Back at you Zac.

I have a selfish reason for not wanting the Card's. That would give them 3 titles this century.

    me 3 HH

not only loosing that tie  between our 3 teams ;-)

it would make them the last team 2 win back 2 back

    [/QUOTE]"tie between our 3 teams"

Sox and Cards have won two titles since 2001. Yank's 1 in 2009.

"last team 2 win back 2 back"

                      No debate about that one.

When you attend your team's death-bed gathering of medical specialists, and you await the expected final word that, yes, they only have 24 hours to live, you have already reached Kubler-Ross' 5th stage of grief, namely acceptance...Then again, watching A-Rod act extra-jolly and over-animated in the dugout is a bit sickening, and you realize that since the end of the ALDS the Yankee season has in some ways resembled a collapsed version of the Red Sox year...Bad tastes all around..So, in the final analysis, you watch anyway, playing with funeral house money, just waiting until the last breath has been taken...When the 8 year old in you says, "Well maybe there is a miracle here..", you remember the V-Man is on the mound, and you go back and join the mourners...

Hughes is pitching well tonight after 3...Early sample but he has looked stronger of late...With Sabathia, Hughes, Kuroda, and Pettitte (assuming he returns) next year, the Yanks will have a very good rotation...A healthy and competitive Pineda would be a major plus....But I think if they do not somehow pluck up Josh Hamilton, the booed by the Texas fans because of his slump Hamilton, then they will struggle offensively again next year....

Tigers up 1-0 after Young homer..With this Yankee lineup and Verlander on the mound, that is like 3 runs...The Fat Lady is tuning up and the playoff hearse is looking for parking...

    Dear Yankee fans,

Have hope despite your team being down three games to none.  The 2004 Boston Red Sox came back from a 3-0 deficit in the ALCS and then went on to win the World Series.

    Sincerely,

    Red Sox Fan

They deserve to be swept. Pretty damning: Ibanez (1 mil contract) comes up vs a Lefty, and is allowed to hit with ARod on the bench.

That shocked me at first then I realized little joe figured that a righty would have come in to face Arod. Even if that happened he had Swish to hit, so I agree it was not little joe's finest hour.

Had the yanks won last night I would totally agree.

Down 0-3 you wonder if 1) the tigers are playing w/o pressure and 2) will CC and the rest of the yanks simply mail it in.

Not a game I would place a bet down for either team.

You're probably right. The yanks are still a good team and do have pride.

There is no disgrace in losing but there is when you get swept.

It's called the doghouse. However, a MGR can go to the mound as much as he wants; he just needs to get a new pitcher every other time

Disagree; how would it look if ARod struck out yet again to go down 0-3? I wouldn't have used him either.

The bottom line is having Raul face a lefty was wrong.

He had choice of sending up Arod who would not have been allowed to hit if a righty was brought in or send up Swish at that time or wait until a pitching change was made. Either way you improved the matchup.

I agree. Dont think ARod was playing under any circumstance. Second visit, Leyland would have had to take Coke out. Bonoit hasnt been good lately. Girardi should have tried to force his hand.

For that to happen the guy before has to get on.

No way Raul should have been left in to face Coke.

Arod gives the yanks a better chance with that match up.

Leland would have brought in a righty to face Arod at which point Swisher would have been announced as a ph for Arod.

You worry about Martin's spot in the order if you get that far.

I agree, HH but Coke has been named the closer, with Valerdes recent struggles. IDK if Leyland would have mixed and matched. Was Benoit even warming? Girardi said he went with the hot hand., but I think there's more to it. He was asked about the reported ARod incident and he said no comment. He was asked if it had anything to do with his decision to bench him, he denied it, which I would expect.
