His ERA just went from 2.45 to 14.06. But what a great name for a pitcher, PEDRO VIOLA!

It just may be that Terry has finally seen enough to warrant letting Josh bat against left handers.  I thought he was going to make the switch, too.

I think we all can use a night off for Paps. He's been as sharp as a spoon lately....

Yeah we can thank Alfredo for that... He bridged the gap nicely! Our season could b in trouble at this point if not for him!

That is a great name. Actually, he looks like he has a good, live arm. Obviously , needs to improve his location.

K's don't equate to effectiveness in my book. They're a nice stat but don't tell the entire story. In Pap's last two outings:

    2 innings
    43 pitches
3 runs (13.50 ERA; more and a blown save if not for the questionable call at the plate the Tu night)
    5 hits (including an HR)
    1 walk
    4 strikeouts

In my book, that's not sharp but feel free to grade as you wish. We all have opinions and that's why we're here.

Re: Thursday Night Baseball Sox V O's

I think the reason Francona let Reddick bat vs the lefty is because the Sox had the lead.  Reddick is the better defensive player so you want him out there with the lead.  If the Sox were trailing, he might have PH, though I am not sure.

I have always maintained that Francona does a great job of handling the season, giving guys rest so they stay fresh througout the season and into September.  Some people disagree with that strategy and feel the best lineup should be out there every game.  I agree with Francona on that.

Hey Yaz, what is your favorite donut, and I mean fresh out of the fryer?  I used to love French Cruellers but only when just made.  My father ran a Dunkins in NH from '68 to '86.  It was kind of mandatory to work there when we came of age.
