It is obvious the oposition has learned how to pitch to wil this year. It is also obvious that he is not able to make the adjustment. With Drew almost an auto out and salty bad at throwing, catching, runing and hitting and with management stickting with both of these guys they cannot afford to have three auto outs at end of lineup. Send him down to learn how to hit the ptiches he will be getting and get Beltre back for a pitcher and two prospects.

I am not sure what is going on with Will but he does look lost at the plate... he doesnt seem to be making the adjustments...

rather than an unintelligent whine it would be better if you had some criticism of my arguments. I am trying to make the ballclub better now that we will not be facing cleve and houston for awhile. Do you think salty, drew and middlebrooks are contributing to the team? If so say so and let us at your opinions. What is your purpose in being here. BTW: eat me.

haha... his purpose is just to be a little B on here...just like Conan is... its a perfect avatar for this loser

Niddy has to be a real concern for management at the moment.  He's looked like a fish out of water after his rookie season.  Pitchers have adjusted well to Middy but he has yet to adapt.

ya gotta say will is really looking lost up there, salty same goes, at this point we might as well give lavarnway a shot to catch, salty is struggling in all aspects of the game, not good defensively, not hitting, not calling a good game. nava big 0-5 today, we cant keep starting him everyday, he is most effective in spot starts and pinch hitting, hes is not an everyday starter. sox blew it tonight after a big hit by ortiz to give them the lead, and the pen implodes.

He is not gojng to learn what adjustments he needs to make against the major league pitchers who have made adjustments against him by facing minor league pitching in pawtucket. We know he can hit AAA pitching

Will seems to have a big problem with pitch recognition. Get two strikes on him , and he will  chase anything. His raw power is intriguing and it is needed, but right now Ciriaco is a better hitter. Will 's strikeouts are becoming almost predictable. And while it has not been mentioned, his lateral movement on defense , especially to his right , leaves a lot to be desired. Unless some improvement in his performance is forthcoming , he should not be starting .

Without 'whining' about it.....  It's clear Middy needs a significant amount of work on reading the off-speed breading stuff!  There is NO QUESTION about this.  He's looking exclusively for middle-in cheese, but is being served a steady diet of off the plate quizine.  His problem???  He clearly couldn't read the stitches on an over-sized softball.  We all know he was brought up too quickly, but we don't have the luxury of sending him down for more work.

Even with this deficit.  The incredibly high K/AB rate.  His low agv.  Very low OBP....  etc.  He will be a plus for the team.  I assume they are working with him on this.  The kid has mad raw power, and should collect a respectable # of RBI's.  His D is far from perfect, but he will improve.

Was anybody confused about this before the season.  Did anybody think there would be no growing pains.

He will adjust!  When he does.......  This kid is going to be a 40 - 40 guy :)

Relax!  Enjoy!  There will be plenty more games like tonight.

What do you mean by 40-40 guy ?   Do you think he will ever steal 40 bases ?

Hey!  If Jose can do it???   Why not?

ok ok ....   :)  maybe not.  but...  I honestly think he's capable of stealing quite a few!  IF.....  he can ever get on base!  :)

Just having fun.  He will improve!!!!  While we're at it, his glove could use some work.   Just a thought.

In six professional seasons, Will Middlebrooks has stolen 39 bases in 2,095 plate appearances.

Middlebrooks' projected on-base percentage would limit his opportunities for stolen bases.

He is not calling a good game? Have you seen the staff ERA? When Buchholz wins tonight this board will go quiet again.

Send Middy down? Were all of you of the same thinking when Dustin was hitting 168 after his first full month?

These "fans" have no patience and think that every young player shoud hit right away and adjust right away. This game is obviously a lot harder that some of you think. It might take him a couple months to adjust. Hes showed signs of adjusting, just not on a consistant basis. He'll get it. Thank God most of you arent GM's or managers.

Ciricao is NOT the answer. If you think hes better than WMB, then I question your baseball knowlwdge.

Any assessment of Will Middlebrooks should examine his entire six-season professional career.

This large sample of minor league stats highlights stark differences between Middlebrooks and Dustin Pedroia:

    WM 1706 PA, .276/.333/.454/.787, 128 BB, 449 K

    DP 1223 PA, .307/.392/.452/.844, 126 BB, 77 K

I think patience is a virtue here man. middy will work out the kinks. the only thing I gotta whine about is that I have to hit the packy tonight to get another rack of bud lite platinums for tonights game.
