Ortiz could use the speed in front of him, less double plays - ???  Maybe.

That would also work BurritoT. Either way I imagine would be OK.. A nice problem to have though.

I like Crawford in the five.  Some speed in front of Papi is a good thing and it solves the whole conundrum at the top of the lineup.

In Response to TITO, BAT CRAWFORD 5TH AND LEAVE HIM THERE.......:
HE WILL HELP PAPI AND THE OTHERS BEHIND HIM AS THE DEFENSE WILL NEED TO BE MINDFUL OF HIS SPEED.....  WHAT SAY YOU ?????

It eventually could work, though I think we need to get bigger sample sets on the two guys first for two reasons.

One reason is that I think it is important to see that Crawford is truly back on track and that he can generate the kind of ABs that he would need to clean-up the guys in front of him.

The other is to be sure that Ortiz has cracked the code on hitting LH pitching after a couple of years of really tough splits versus LH. Otherwise come later in the game even against RH starters the line-up makes things much easier on the opponent in regards to pitching changes with two LH back-to-back that struggle against LH pitching.

    Just my take

He needs to bat 9th until he can consistently hit .280

then you can re-assess your line up and where everyone else is and if Crawford could be moved up....i'd love to see him earn the 3-hole but it's looking more like 6th.....

I originally advocated Crawford at leadoff, however, after his slow start I thought that putting him in the 5th spot actually would make a whole lot of sense...

...it would provide another round of speed on the bases after the top 4 have done their jobs...plus it might influence other teams ability to shift against Ortiz if Crawford is on in front of him.
