Tito does a nice job in Cleveland

Who would have picked the Indians to join the race to the postseason? Nice turnaround by Francona.

He was great in Boston, just a few knuckleheads couldn't see it and/or wouldn't admit it.  My favourite was the guy that claimed Francona cost us 15-20 games per season and would list games he felt the manager lost...in other words, he thought the Sox, year in, year out, were a 115-win team held back by Francona.  You have to laugh.....

I love tito because helped to bring 2 WS rings to boston.  I also think he is a pretty good guy.  If the sox don't win the WS I want tito's bunch to get it.

Of course the sox will win so tito's guys will have to wait till next yearWink

He's a terrific manager. Gald to see he has done well, one of the better people in sports. Loved his book.

If Tito wasn't the manager, CL would've won 120 games, maybe more.

Who wins Manager of the year? Farrell, Francona, or XYZ?

Tito should have been the manager of the year in 04'.  He was at the helm when the 86 year old drought was ended.  I was very suprised when he didn't get it.

Farrell had a 180 point improvement, but he followed the worst manager in history.

    Ha! This is true. ;)

I seem to remember some baseball writers not impressed at all about trading for Farrell. I think the scarcastic phrase "Big deal" was used. Of course, I liked getting Farrell, thought it was the smartest move they could make, considering their pitching staff was in shambles and he was familiar to the organization.

I believe I picked them to be in the mix in the preseason for 2nd or 3rd in the central. Thought they'd fall short of qualifying for a playoff spot because of the quality of the teams in AL East and West. To their credit they have played well all year and in the month of September they've gone 14 and 6 while the Rangers have collapsed going 5 and 14.

Francona has done a very good job and credit also has to go to their GM and owners for the offseason signings of Giambi, Bourne and Swisher. The resurgence of Scott Kasmir has also helped them in September. They're now in position to control their own destiny and if they win out their in...

I think Francona will edge out Farrell and win the AL Manager of the Year award.   Laughing
