Wow, at first I was confused as to why DMac would lead off (even with Ells out), then I saw his line of .261/.393/.609 in July.

Duffy has never faced any Red Sox hitters before.

What's wrong with Ellsbury? Didn't stay up for the whole game last night.

For all the complaining I'm sure this ragatag "getting rest" night lineup scores a bunch after scoring almost nothing yesterday.

As Peter Abraham pointed out, the Sox are in the middle of 20 games in a row.  Plus the weather is draining, and Ellsbury, et al, played 14 last night and 16 9 days ago.  Nothing wrong with Ellsbury (that we know of).

There's nothing wrong with Jake sitting a day. There's lots with McDonald finding himself hitting lead off or hitting 5th when he plays.

    Re: Tonight's line-up

Alibiike - The bench is awfully weak, but in large part due Lowrie's injury.
I don't mind Sutton being there as he has shown me that he is a capable bench guy. Varitek is a good back up catcher.

If they get an outfielder along the lines of Ludwick or Francoer, then he will replace either Sutton or Navarro.  Unfortunately, I think we are stuck with DMAC. Fortunately, Cameron is gone and we probably won't see Drew until after September 1.

If he's made available for a good prospect, the Red Sox should go get Cuddyer. He can play 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and RF. He's a righty bat.  Unfortunately, he has been extrememly hot for the last six weeks and one of the reasons for the Twins resurgence. If they fall apart over the next 7 days, maybe he can be had for a package of Anderson/Weiland. I'd do that in a heartbeat.

.867 OPS at AAA last year.  .831 OPS at AAA this year.  If you don't see anything, then you aren't looking.

Yeah hopefully we wont need it though... Tito probably figured they got all of the good pitching out of their system yesterday and tonight they'll unload their usual arsenal of meatballs and mellons. Hope so!

god i love it when Pedroia hits cleanup.
