    Re: Tonight's Lineup

Basically, the same as last night, except, with Lowrie at 3B, seven lefty bats against the righty Orioles starter.

I frankly think Ellsbury is a better choice batting third, but agree with someone else who argued, "don't mess with success."  So this lineup goes two lefties, a righty, five lefties, and a righty, Scutaro in the 9th slot.  I think the toughest slot to fill is the 6th hitter, which can be a key rbi slot and in this case must also force the Orioles pitchers to pitch to AGon, batting 5th.  So tonight it's Lowrie, who is probably the best choice available. I agree with Drew in the 7th slot, Tek #8 and Scutaro 9th.

I guess Tek has recovered from the HBP last night, or maybe Salty just needs the recovery time after all those innings--I believe he caught 18, 9 in each game--yesterday.  Maybe we will see Lavarnway behind the plate tonight.

Re: Tek -- Beckett probably went to whoever you goto and said, "Give him whatever horse tranquilizers you need to -- he's catching me tonight."

I hope we do see Lavarnway late though.

Beckett is such a creature of habit, shakes of catchers so much (even Tek) and has a maddening slow work pace. Tough position to put Lavarnway in I think.

I think it's interesting how they've completely abandoned the whole LRL thing in the batting order.

not that interesting considering there really is no right hand hitter in the lineup except Pedroia now that Youk is all but done for the season. This is proof why guys like Reddick who was hot earlier this season should have been hitting everyday against every pitcher. I believe the lack of confidence the manager had shown in him, but not playing him against lefties, really screwed with the guys head. How do you sit a guy batting .400 just because there is a guy on the mound pitching with the same hand. Now when the crap has hit the wall everything goes !! Maybe, just maybe, had we not worried about the other teams players and who they were throwing out there and concentrated on our team and it's players we wouldn't be in this situation, that is, Depending on a guy like JD Drew to bail us out !!
