MLB channel is covering it all afternoon.  ESPN has a special from 3:00 - 4:30.  And of course , there is mlbtraderumors.com .  Should be interesting and fun.  Victorino to the Dodgers looks legit.

Perhaps for the first time in his life, Ben is paying attention and not making a futile trade to try to save a very mediocre season. Getting rid of Beckett/Lackey/Lester/Crawford would be best, but no GM in his right mind would take any of these bloated contracts. So the next best thing is to do nothing and allow the team to wallow in the abyss they have created for themselves for all to see.

Actually, teams have aggressively tried to obtain Lester.  The sox have refused to entertain offers for him.  I think they think its a lost season, but he will revert to form in 2013.

    Hopefully, they are right.

Also a lot of teams probably thought they could get a pitcher like Lester on the cheap with his recent struggles.  Can't blame teams for being diligent and seing what is out there.

Think the same may hold true for Beckett, hugh. If the Sox were motivated to part ways with him, they'd get him for next to nothing. MLB said this morning teams contacted Boston about Beckett but they weren't actively looking to move him. Also,  harder to trade, since he's a 10/5 player

Agreed.  I don't think they are going anywhere.

My guess is Boston is going to treat there star players coming back as deadline trades, make a few small deals but Largely keep this team in tact and preserve the farm.   If Lester and Beckett (or even just Lester as Beckett has been half was decent) can get hot and Buccholtz can stay hot then this team can go on a run.

If they don't then at the very least they didn't trade away their farm.

drewski---I think you have hit the nail on the head--the Sox have thrown the towel in--if we can't make the playoffs with what we have so be it.

If Lester and Beckett continue to perform the way they have thus far this season-BenC will have made a big mistake by not moving Lester and Beckett in the next  1 1/2  hours.

I am rather surprised Ross, Albers, Aceves,  Shop and or Salty haven't been moved.

This team is more than a player or two away from a WC. Only make a trade, if it makes sense for the future.

Agreed, thats why I believe the only players who will be traded (IF Ben makes a trade) will be smaller pieces.

Is Morales the deadline pitching upgrade for the starting rotation????  Will definitely make Ben look good if Morales can return to his performance in the rotation before he was moved out.

    LH Reliever acquired

The Red Sox will acquire left-handed reliever Craig Breslow from the Diamondbacks, Jack Magruder of FOXSportsArizona.com reports (Twitter links). The Red Sox will send Matt Albers and Scott Podsednik to Arizona to complete the trade.

Boston had been seeking left-handed relief. The Angels were also looking at Breslow, according to Magruder. Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe first reported that the Red Sox might acquire Breslow.

Breslow, 31, has a 2.70 ERA with 8.7 K/9 and 2.7 BB/9 in 43 1/3 innings this year. He earns $1.8MM and will go to arbitration for the final time this coming offseason.

Why not Soriano as the right handed bat the Sox need?    He can play outfield and DH especially now with Papi out longer and DH against tough lefties as well.
