    Triple Crown Winner Factoid

What did the previous 3 TC Winners (Mantle, F Robby, Yaz) have in common?

They all played  in the WS that yr.

If Lonborg didn't pitch Gm 7 on 2 days rest in '67, they likely all would have WON the WS as well.

It seems like Cabrera is on his way to keep this streak going.

No, that's him sober; if he was, he'd start another clueless Strasburg thread

Apparently Triple Crowns for pitchers are not as lucky.

We had two Triple Crown winners last year, and one of them didn't even make the playoffs.

They also all played in the AL East.

Ted Williams the last player to win 2, once before (1942) and then after (1947) World War II.

Rogers Hornsby the only other player to have won it twice.

I thought the TC was awarded for the player leading all three categories in MLB, not for each league. Am I wrong?

Posey led MLB with a .336 BA so how does Cabrera win the TC?

    Please educate me.

Triple Crown is for leading your specific league in each category. (Yaz wasn't 1st in MLB in batting average in '67, for instance...)

Thanks. I just reaearched it to see if it's always been done that way and it has. The disticnction is if done across both leagues it is known as "Major League Triple Crown", and that has only been done 5 times by; Cobb, Hornsby, Gehrig, Williams, and Mantle. Pretty amazing!
