Tigers are the hottest team in baseball ; they recently had a 12 game Win Streak

Because they've been beating up on their own division.
The important numbers are the ones that reflect how the Tigers fare against whoever they will meet in the PO's.

    They are 4 - 8 vs. BS/NY  49 RS  62 RA

    In NY/BS: 1 - 4

Verlander or no Verlander, they are outclassed. And while anything can happen in a short series, true odds are against them.

I'd rather face TX, not that they're pushovers; as Peter Gammons recently said, there's no easy team in the AL, and any can end up winning the pennant; ironically, the team he likes least is the RS, due to the state of their P.

I certainly hope you get UR wish.
    That means I'll get mine.
TX is and I believe will be very dangerous.

The RedSox have gone to extremes to become underdogs in the past, but that 2nd game of the DH vs. NY rivals game 4 - 2004 - vs. same team!

What a tense game that was last night...with so much riding on every pitch.
