I'd say Bobby is right. You cannot worry about other teams in January; you just need to focus on your team.

Tag team. Bad cop, good cop. Good for the forum. Keeping the forum honest, sincere, and real. If the forum died, most tears would be shed in the NYC area. Long live the forum.  Do you guys have rehearsals?

Bobby V said the right thing. He cannot afford to be worried about the Yankees' moves. What he needs to be concerned with now are the Sox and the moves that they need to make. At this point his approach is the correct one.

I like where he says that the Sox should wait and evaluate their needs at a later point in the year and then address those concerns.  Good logical thinking...no hurry, let's just get it right.

One decent starting pitcher.  Not Aaron Cook. Not a guy who was hurt all last year.  A decent #3 guy who can eat some decent innings. Then its OK.

    (and a RF later...)

He's right, of course. You never know how pitching will translate to the AL East. These are good moves for the Yankees, but there's no reason to panic. Long season ahead.

Bobby's setting the tone early that he can be a team player and work with management. That being said, any objective person can see the Yanks have gotten a lot better and are going for it this season. I hope we stay under the cap, lower the luxury tax to 17% , and then go hog wild in free agency next year. Being "slightly" over the cap this season would be like being a "little bit pregnant". We'd raise or tax for next yr from 30% to 40% and do little to help our teams chances this year. You either commit to spending what we need for a ring now, or go conservative and wait for next season when it makes far more sense. There is no middle ground to take here IMO.

Oh really? It's not like he has the track record of Joe Torre, Lou Pinella, Tony Larussa, or even Terry Francona, his successor. Lets see what he says when Pineda's blowing hitters away this year.

Pineda hasn't thrown one pitch and already Yankee Fans have as the leading contender for the Cy Young award !! It's all good because we have the fireman of the year Andrew Bailey!!!! also the winner of the MVP Ellsbury!

Posted by traven[/QUOTE] Ha! What else is he going to say, that we suck going into 2012? Waiting until the TD to make some moves may be too late. The holes should be addressed now, but what remains in the FA market is slim and Henry doesn't appear to want to open his wallet.

Re: Valentine: Sox not worried about Yanks' big moves

Come on, what is Bobby V gonna say "oh no I dont know if we can compete".  He and Ben will get another starter and piece it together until the trade deadline.  The offense looks to be one of the best and that is with a healthy Youk and a determined Crawford.

The Yankees made two great moves, Pineda is the future #1 they were looking for to succeed CC and for the time be his #2.  Kuroda will be a great #4 and will eat innings.  Loosing Montero will not hurt them since they have older guys locked up into their late 30's who will need the occassional day off.

The RS will make their moves and will play the Yankees hard every time they face them.  I could see Oswalt being a guy who the RS would target if they see the need to add payroll.  This team barring a trade is pretty much done.  The RS fans might have to endure three months of a piece meal #5.  My feeling is Bard will take his lumps but will see a good 2012 campain.

He should be, because I am a fan and I am worried about it. For Pineda I would have dealt Lavarney and another for him.

Only good news is that Yankees signed both right handed pitchers.
