    Wakefield Consecutive Hit Streak Continues!

Wakefield gave up another homer, last night, running his consecutive game homer streak to six. Wakefield has been red hot, giving up 8 homers in his last 6 starts. During the streak, Wakefield has managed to give up 2 homers in consecutive starts. Wakefield boasts 11 homers in his last 10 starts.

Please applaud the effort of Tim Wakefield.

He's probably the fifth starter on the team. Why is he constantly compared to pitchers in far higher positions? I don't know what we'd do without Wake this season, and I'm glad he's having this opportunity to contribute to the team. Enough already.

Young pitchers would get the Wakefield launchin pad innings.

Seriously, stop already. He's doing a great job this season for us, and whether you like him or not, it doesn't change that. Most of the Wake bashers are probably happy with that. We've had a number of young pitchers and they can't compare. That should tell you something. Let it go.

I honestly wish you had your energy directed at other teams, instead of the Sox. That would be way more fun here. Continually attacking your own team with such venom, not so much.

We disagree. Your standard on great is equal with poor.

I don't agree; he's been a credit to his team and his sport; but let's play devil's advocate for a moment; let's say he s-cks. How many times are you going to post the same repetitive (as you would say) drivel?

well, giving up 5 runs to the marionettes does't scream good pitching,
however, scoring only 3 runs, doesn't speak well of our "awesome" offense.

hint: don't buy your WS tickets quite yet.
let's hope that the SOX don't have to count on pitching to get there, or they're in trouble.

btw, i feel WAKE will get his 200th win next year with the SOX.

He pitched 8 innings and had one bad inning , which was coupled with more bad defense.
Many of the hits he gave up were seeing-eye singles. He certainly pitched better than Beckett did the night before.

Four earned runs in eight innings isn't that bad for a number 5.

His previous three starts going for number 200 were all quality starts:

    7 innings, 3 earned runs
    6.2 innings, 3 earned runs
    7 innings, 3 earned runs

Not shabby for a number 5. Nobody ever said he was a number 1.

I guess Wake is all you have left, since Jake is doing so well this year.

Wake hasn't been awful considering he is our sixth choice in the rotation.  The offense just hasn't been hitting as well recently.  Of course, it certainly doesn't help if our starters continue to put us in an early hole.

why are you even a fan softy?  all you ever do is complain about the Sox.

do you sit and watch every play and complain? do you ever get excited when we have a come from behind victory or we sweep the Yankees?

When Jacoby Ellsbury hit two walk off hits in a row did you get happy for your team? or did you break the remote?

Don't take Softlaw seriously. He is not a fan so stop pretending that he is. He is a troll and enjoys trolling. You are his prey and victims. Put him onto ignore and then his comments won't bother you since you won't see them. Do likewise with Yazzer.

Brad Penny pitches half of his games  in the comfortable confines of Comerica park and establishes numbers such as a 55/44 K/BB ratio and a WHIP of 1.49 and people complain about Wakefield!  We could have Brad Penny!  Oh that's right we did and we got rid of him!
