not seeing this game, joel, but Bard looks preoccupied out there, like he's more worried about losing his role as a starter and shipped back to the pen.

Joel, He's like ALL of the starters. They take forever thinking about every pitch resulting in no natural flow at all. I blame the pitching coach for all of it. Todays game is on pace for 4hrs.

On this I agree with you. He has to decide within himself to go out and do what needs to be done. If he can't do that, then you're right, he doesn't belong here anymore. Meanwhile, the Sox hitters continue to go out 123 like meek little lambs. Unbeleivable.

Well, when they are healthy I like this configuration (of course, Clay-Man is still the key and will most likely need to somehow be replaced):
1 Ellsbury L CF
2 Pedey R 2B
3 Ortiz L DH
4 Youk R 3B
5 Gonzo L 1B
6 Ross R LF
7 Sweeney L RF
8 Salty S C
9 Aviles R SS
Bench: Shoppach, Crawford (L), Iglessias, Middlebrooks
You got your back-up catcher, a pinch runner (or 2 or 3), an extra OF, a Middle Infielder, a guy who can back up Youk, and RH Pinch Hitter
1 Lester L
2 Beckett R
3 Buck R
4 Doubrant L
5 Dice R
Pen:
1 Bailey R Closer
2 Bard RH Set Up Man
3 Morales LH Set Up Man
4 Aceves R - 6th and 7th Inning - can get you the K in a jam
5 Hill - LH Long Man
6 Padilla RH Long Man
7 Battle for it - but I prefer a long man given our starters have trouble going 6, if not a left handed specialist would be nice but that's not on our roster now: Advantage: Acthinson (maybe Miller since he could be both)

You can't blame the pitching coach without a mandate from little bobby v.
He's been neutered, & the players know it! Even if he asked them to speed it up, and it's reported that he has, THEY KNOW THEY DON'T HAVE TO LISTEN TO HIM!

& WHEN WILL THAT SECOND SEASON BE?
It's beyond clear that he's manufactured a second injury to stay out of the lineup!
That does not bode well for a bounceback season!

Pen up already in the 5th. This pen is going to be in tatters by August. These SP's have got to get it together. Not one of them is consisently getting past the 5th or 6th inning.
