Where are the Youk lovers now?  The guy is a walking time bomb.  I appreciate what he did for Boston, he gave it all.  But the ol' body is not going to last much longer.  Good luck to him.  But it was time for him to go, and this is PROOF.

The real question about Youk isn't whether he can last the season its whether or not Tom Brady's sister will still rout for the Pats or become and Bear Fan!

    It's 'root' and not 'rout'.

Where are all the Carl Crawford lovers?  Can we get about 2 hours worth of spin and "hope" before first pitch tonight?  I could use a few chuckles now since I am sure I'll be screaming at Beckett in about 2 1/2 hours..........

How about we get beckett to pitch to the Sox for an inning before the game?   The Sox get some good batting practice and Backett comes out in the first like it is the second and only give up one or two runs!

It's official, BV and Ben C have no idea what to do in Ortiz' absence. One, the GM, never thought to replace him, meanwhile giving BV the choice of using Ciriaco, what happened to him being a strong defensive player?, and Nava at DH. They refuse to use Shoppach at DH when Salty catches and vice versa. ALL THEY HAD TO DO WAS BRING UP LAVARNWAY...PROBLEM SOLVED...He could have DH'ed and and even if he was on the bench, he becomes the 3rd catcher

We carry like 17 pitchers, how are we going to fit a 3rd catcher?

If Crawford can't field why not DH him?

There are a ton better solutions than the one presented tongiht.

drew, it's an alltime moronic way of treating the DH spot as now a spot for punch and judy minor leaguers. Not only that, the one guy who has hit Holland is of all people Nick Punto, 3-for-8 with a home run. Hell, even he was a better option than  Ciriaco, who people correctly predicted would stop hitting and he has.

I know.  The only time I thought it was mildly acceptable was when Pinella (M's) used Vince Coleman as the DH and leadoff hitter.......

Re: Wednesday Night Game Thread: Red Sox at Rangers

Here's the lineup that should have happened tonight:
    Ellsbury,CF    LEFTY
    Pedroia,2b
    Gonzalez,1b   LEFTY
    Ross,RF
    Middlebrooks,3b
    Saltalamachia,DH
    Shoppach,C
    Aviles,SS
    Crawford,LF   LEFTY
HOW F-ING HARD IS THAT TO DO???? IT'S NOT HARD, IT'S THAT SIMPLE
And for those people that wanted Lavarnway, he could have been the DH as a natural righty because Salty does have some problems batting right-handed and of course I said Salty should always bat Left-Handed and learn to just hit lefties as a lefthander

Re: Wednesday Night Game Thread: Red Sox at Rangers

Does BV know that Ciriaco is 0-for-his-last 10? 2-for-his-last-20??? Doesn't he get it? No, same manager who forced Nava to bat leadoff, 2nd, and 3rd in successive games in an 8-for-73 slump (still 8-for-73 as he drew a walk as a pinch hitter). Nava was used perfectly last night in a pinch hit appearance to draw a base.
