    In response to MadMc44's comment:

Lester and Buch have lost their competitiveness--they need a change of scenery. They are good for us but not good enough. If Ben isn't going on the open market have an internal tryout this ST.

Lester, Buch, Rubby, Barnes, Workman, Carpenter, Webster--see who impresses the most.

I say trade Lester and Buch---how much worse can they do.

Buch put up a sub-3 ERA during his last 20 or so starts last year ... just sayin'.

And Lester? 150 starts at about 3.50 ERA through 2011.  Yes, he was 4.82 last year but he also had horrific luck to go along with not pitching well ... luck adjusted probably looks more like a 4.30 - 4.40.  Maybe he bounces back and maybe he doesn't but his upside from reverting to the mean is much higher than the upside of trading him IMO.

It could happen. Now that Iggy is thrown to the curb, we may try to trade him. Lava and Salty are a bit redundant. We only need one of Nava or Kalish. We can spare a pen arm or two, and if we trade for a SP, we can spare Doubront, Morales or Tazawa.

I seriously doubt anyone will trade us a 2 slot starter for Morales, Salty, Iggy, Breslow, and Nava, but maybe by involving a third team or trading these guys piecemeal for prospects and then flipping the prospects could net us a pitcher much  better than Morales (who isn't that bad as it is).

Ready to compete for 4th place?

Yes, a lot can happen- like Ells back on the DL, Lackey tanking, Lester never coming back, and all the FAs coming off "off years" continuing their downward trends.
