What are your expectations for Tim Wakefield, tonight?

What are your expectations for Tim Wakefield, tonight?

Another scoreless inning under distress, again?

Or another homer, like 3 of his last 7 outings?

Or, will he do what he does best, just sit in the dugout eating potato salad?

Give it a rest. Wake could throw a no-no and you'd find something negative to say about. You're as bad as harness with Vmart.

Wit the constant captious "what do expect from DiceK" threads, I thought old Wakefield deserved a little bit of the "fairness doctrine". It's not fair that CNBC doesn't get federal funding to maintain the tiny audience it has.

Wake has done a lot more for the Sox than softlaw/baseballgm ever did.

When it is working, the knuckler is a very tough pitch to hit.  No other pitcher on the Sox can continually throw just one pitch and have it be effective.  Beckett and Lester have good fastballs when they are hitting their spots, but they still need to mix in breaking stuff to be effective.  All Wakefield has to do is get that knuckler into the strike zone or close enough to have the hitter swing at it--when it's working, of course.

yes, when it's working it goes to the backstop a lot. Nice comparison, Wakefield with Lester. Too bad we don't have another Wakefield, to replace Lester.

Yaz did more for the Red Sox than Wakefield, give him a seat on the mop bench, as well.

So your best response to the criticism of one Sox player is to criticize another? Why not rather start a thread singing the praises of Dice-K?

Once again, I ask, have you tried it?

It's what is "expected" of GM: bashing our beloved Sox players.

You still haven't answered the question, softy:

What does Wake have to do this season to get you off his back?

10 more games like this in a row?

Re: What are your expectations for Tim Wakefield, tonight?

Seattle had the worst offense in the AL, a year ago. This year, there is only one team worse in OPS. They are a terrible offensive team. As I said before this game, Wakefield going a few innings and getting lucky does not validate the fact he is a waste of a roster spot. A revolving door of AAA'ers could have gone 5 and change, Aceves to name one. Except Aceves is a legitimate decent pen option, as well, unlike Wakefield. Wakefield needs to go, and this fumes off the de facto DL merely confirms it. Tito took him out because it was miracle he lasted that long.
