Wakefield could pitch 9 and give up 1 and they'd still lose.

I predict a 1 hitter today from Felix.  The only question is who will be the Red Sox hero in the 9th to break it up?  Heck, I am going to go with JD Drew for some poetic justice.

He'll go 6 and give up 4 ER.  That's what Wakefield does.

The Red Sox certainly have a shot to win any single game they play. But Wakefield and "6 strong innings" does not compute. If he lasts 6 or more innings, it will be luck and goofball and mirrors.

My expectation is another competitive baseball game. My expecation of Wakefield is an old over the hill ugly pitching fat guy looking for some luck and smoke and mirrors results.

Since his back surgery before the 2010 season, these are the IP per start by Wake. I added ERs for informational purposes.

    7     2
    5.1  5
    6      6
    6.2   2
    7      3
    8      0
    3.2  9
    6      6
    7.1   1
    7.1   4
    6.1   3
    7      3
    8      2
    5.2  6
    2      6
    6      3
    5.2  3
    5      4
    5      5

12 of his 19 starts he went 6 IP.
    14/19 he went 5.2 +
    15/19 he went 5.1 +
    17/19 he went 5+

It's not the IP he has issues with, it's "the strong IP" he has struggled with since his recovey from back surgery. Although 11 of his 19 starts wre good or quality starts (including 7.1 IP with 4 ERS and 5.2 IP ith 3 ERS).

guess I expeted more from Wke today. I wish they had started Aceves.

Decent start from the Wake-man today, considering he's not used to starting.  76 pitches and a run allowed (which was really more Jenks since he came in with the inherited runner and 2 outs), while pitching into the 6th inning.  Nice job....

Re: What are your expectations of Tim Wakefield this afternoon?

Seattle had the worst offense in the AL, a year ago. This year, there is only one team worse in OPS. They are a terrible offensive team. As I said before this game, Wakefield going a few innings and getting lucky does not validate the fact he is a waste of a roster spot. A revolving door of AAA'ers could have gone 5 and change, Aceves to name one. Except Aceves is a legitimate decent pen option, as well, unlike Wakefield. Wakefield needs to go, and this fumes off the de facto DL merely confirms it. Tito took him out because it was miracle he lasted that long.

This is the same Seattle offense Oki faced. Yet you raved about him.
Wake pitched shutdown ball, despite a porous defense early on.

I never "rave" about anything. You "rave" about Varitek. Eck, a HOF'er, complimented Oki on his excellent movement and control.

Nice to see Salty have another fine pitching performance with Wakefield's goofball and the pen benefiting from a pitcher's shadows sun day. We needed Salty to step up, after Varitek's terrible last two starts giving up 9 runs.

You raved about Oki. You went on and on and on. You mentioned Eck talking about him. Then you wanted Remdog canned in favor of Eck.

    You are a clown.
