In Response to Re: What do you think of this NESN story from January:2011 Red Sox Will Challenge 1927 Yankees for Title of Greatest Team in Major League History : A simple case of hyperbole based on a best case scenario by a writer who is trying to generate conversation based on assumptions of a perfect storm on a winter day. Harmless and irrelevant and the far majority of those who try to predict baseball and what will happen are often wrong. They are generally not held accountable because fans tend to forget who said what when and live in the moment. You can dredge up articles and comments like this through the years from numerous so-called insiders and experts and point out the error of their opinions after the fact.

Forget about this year, with Youk looking like ARod now the future is even a bigger worry. And he will never be the same after this year.
How long before Middlebrooks arrives?

In Response to Re: What do you think of this NESN story from January:2011 Red Sox Will Challenge 1927 Yankees for Title of Greatest Team in Major League History : As Bobby Cox once said, if I was the one who had Mariano Rivera, there would have been more championships in Atlanta.

Or as the great Ted Williams once observed: “Rizzuto was the main difference between the Yankees and Red Sox. If we had Rizzuto in Boston we would have won all those pennants [during that era of the 1940's and 1950's] instead of the Yankees.”

SPC did predict 112 wins this year. All this leads to what I always say - fandom and paper stats mean diddley squat when it comes to the game itself. I still think that the 98 Yankee team matches up with the 27 team in many aspects.

Guys,
NESN is the PR arm of the Red Sox, simple as that.

As YES is the PR arm of the Yankees. As every baseball network that is owned by a baseball franchise. Why is it surprising that those with a vested interest in a team would use their network to further their interests?

How did that assinine story further their interests?
"The Red Sox have won 100 or more games three times in
their 110-year existence. They will make it four in 2011."
He should have been specific and mentioned "including spring training"
