What ever happened to objectivity?
posted at 5/30/2012 3:44 PM EDTObjectivity seems to be missing from this forum. If we like a particular player or manager or G.M. , they can do no wrong. If we dislike them , they can do no right. We use terms like " small sample size " only when it suits our purpose. Ignore it otherwise. We will use stats to back up our arguments when the stats support our position. Otherwise , we ignore the stats and point to some other reason or factor. We sometimes deny things that are clearly obvious , because it's not the way we would like it to be. If we are proven wrong in some of our past predictions , we either conveniently forget , make up some excuse , or say " wait a couple of more years ." This is a continuing issue on this forum. With few exceptions , objectivity has pretty much disappeared. I certainly include myself in this.
