Re: what makes Lee so difficult to hit?

He has a very decent fastball. Unbelievable change up, and some great off speed junk. He is Hershieser of 88 right now. The best pitcher in baseball right now. Pretty fantastic since his teamate(Halladay) was the best pitcher and is now second. That's scary. If they don't have major injuries(Oswalt is out now but not for long)they will be very tough to beat. They didn't have Lee last year so you know they probably would have gone to the WS last year if they had him. The Rangers had him and did.

Actually, Ellsbury hit him pretty hard three times--right at someone.

Re: what makes Lee so difficult to hit?

    he is lefthanded
    he cuts his fastball
he never throws any pitch down the middle of the plate
his curve breaks late and stays on the outter corner
    of the plate on righties
he gets ahead of the count, and throws nastier pitches
    when it's 0-2 or 1-2
he puts the ball in play and works quickly, two major
pluses for the 8 guys behind him.
    best pitcher in baseball.
Sox spent 83 to get Lackey, they waited and waited on
AGON, could have done the same with Lee

I love Cliff Lee as long as he is in the NL and not on the Yankees!

Location, location, location, also changes speeds, keeps hitters off balance. When he is on their is none better.
