I think the players vote, IC. That's what they did in 2004, when Nomar was traded. They voted to give him one and what would have been his share of the WS winnings

 



Isn't there a difference between a share and a ring?  I'm under the impression that the "shares" are a vote of the players, voting on how to share the pool of WS money, while the rings are "gifts" from management in recognition of the team's accomplishments.
