Shane Victorino was receiving MVP votes as recently as 2011.  I have no idea where this myth came from that he is not a good player...

In 2012, Shane's OBP was .321 and his OPS was .704. At age 32, this former CF'er is in decline. Which is why he was kicked out the door in Philly and LA. 13 million a year for 3 yeras is embarrassing for this guy.

Inflation (see gas and groceries) is what's driving money into the stock market because precious metals have become so expensive. Because of the fed, lending money is losing money to inflation. Socialism is not "great for the stock market". Value is relative to inflation. The federal government is, in fact, in desperate straights and will default on the entitlement promises that the Democrat Party has sold to secure political power. It will be called "reform", but the ignorant masses will soon realize how much poorer they are after the buy gas and groceries and clothes and essential goods and services for human survival.

I only have about 10% of my assets in the stock market, which will crash harder than it did a very short time ago. The market, adjusted for actual inflation value losses, has not recovered the losses from the last crash.

Ellsbury and Drew certainly rate to his better than the rookies vs RHPs, but we are assuming they will be healthy all year.

I don't see why you have Ross and Salty in the lineup together. Nava had our 2nd best OBP vs RHPs last year, and you are leaving him out.

If Victorino is in steep decline based on that evidence,  Adrian Gonzalez should be considered legally dead..

That line up isn't a ML line up. It would struggle to put up runs. Brentz is also hurt. There is no advantage of having Linaires on the big league club. He is old, has no upside, and isnt that good of a hitter. That team woUld definitely be worse and most likely less fun to watch.a

So, you think he'll do worse than all our sub .700 OF'ers of last year, and he won't be as exciting to watch as Byrd, Pods, Nava, DMac, and others from 2012?

Brentz is also another guy from AA you're looking to promote, and his plate discipline is horrible.

You're going off the Softy cliff a little on this.  Ellsbury should be one of the best CFs in BB.  Saying that we should waste a control year of JBJ because he is better than Byrd is difficult to even respond to.

IRT Brentz, yes, it is all in the K/W.  He is not quite a kid at 23 in AA, and still had a 130/40 K/W.  That projects to about 175 Ks for 600 ABs, in AA.  What does that project to in the pros?

So your big knock against him is that he's 28? How old was Nava when he played his first game for the Red Sox? I'm not saying that JC should be starting in our outfield this year, but don't sell him short. I think he can and will be a very useful outfielder.

The point I was making was that the fans kept watching last year with much lesser players out there than JBJ, Iggy and Brentz. 

As for Ellsbury vs JBJ, it's not just about playing JBJ and maybe losing a year of service on the back end, it's about getting a top prospect for Jacoby and the draft pick, if we move fast.
