WHEN HOT, could the SOX first 4 hitters (5 with ORTIZ) be the BEST in baseball?

last night was a great example of what was expected when this team was put together and all those millions dispensed. ells and craw ripping doubles and being perpetual irritants as they force pitchers to feed the fastball giant pedy an unlimited supply as he went 3 for 4 ("injury" be damned). would u wanna walk pedy to face the dangerous .400 hitting gonzo (since the all-star break) who gets 2 good great rips per game?

now if craw and ells start going on everything as well in terms of steals, this could be the best show the sawx have EVER put on. last night is a sustainable formula we could take to stay in contention and save bv's job. not many managers out there would have had craw and ells back to back at the top. now here's the final puzzle. if papi walks thru those doors in the next week as the same guy he was prior to his injury, we are a lock for the wild card, great pitching or not, road games or not. we would have the most versatile and dominant first 5 guys in the league! 2 lefties, pedy and 2 more lefties (papi hitting 5th?)... then you have a cody ross hitting with even less pressure which can only make him a better hitter and player. ditto with middy.imagine if we regularly played the dynamic pedro and kalish started getting on base more to keep stealing, this could be trend-breaking and  bodes well for the future. with a resurgent middy or lavarnway, there would be no easy outs from 1 thru 9 just like in the ring years. heck, we could be even better purely as hitters.

even if we dont make it, this is the kind of excitement which would make the fans stay interested. unlike what happened in philly last night as their sell-out streak (artificial or not) ended at 273 as sawx keep going strong at 773. we send out a boring team and forget it.

Crawford looks so much more relaxed at bat and can reach the outside pitches much better this year and he can also pill the ball.

Having watched CC in Tampa what he is doing now is what he did here and can continue to  do for the RS.

It was a rare game in which CC, Ellsbury and Pedroia all hit at the same time. I'd venture to say that this was a 2012 first.

Since Papi isnt coming back any sooner, I think the top five hitters stay the same including putting Salty or Shoppach at the #6th spot.  If Larvanway come back, then use Salty or Shoppach as a DH, and put Ross in the RF.  That is why I didnt like seeing Larvanway batting DH or C at the same time Kalish play in the RF.  Both havent been clicking at the same time especially if Salty or Shoppach go cold too.

I'm very glad that none of you went off on a tangent. Glad that the thread stayed positive and about the first four hitters. Congrats.
