    Look on the bright side.

At least it wasn't Ben's standard 3/$39 million contract

your months late to the party. that joke got stale a looooong time ago.

Yea but to the people who thought signing Ortiz was a bad deal, it is still funny.  And my comment about some ortiz lovers jumping ship, was directed at you.

It turns out that the ortiz contract could end up being two years at 30 million.

Unlike you who is completely consistent. Every single post I've seen by you here has been bashing the big man. What's the matter, did he steal your girlfriend or something?

Creative line by you carnie.  I have just always thought the sox should have cut ties with him the first time he went 1 for 13 in the post season.  Instead they have hung on to him and haven't done anything since 07.

    since 2007: 135HRs, 446 RBIs, .277/.374/.527

your right. he hasn't done anything since 07..

since 2007, out of players with at least 2500 PAs Papi ranks:

    16th in HR

    19th in RBI

    52nd in AVG

    14th in OBP

    8th in SLG

    7th in BB%

not to mention over that same time period he was the best at his position.

but i agree with you.....he has done NOTHING since 2007.

First it would be you're right.  Then if you read it correctly, my statement means the sox have not done anything since 07.  I know Ortiz has put up some numbers and even had something going last season before he decided to take a 71 game vacation.

I have been thru the whole discussion on how his clutch hits have diminished.  I know you will always think Ortiz is god and because of 04 and 07 we should let him leave when he is ready. So I will give you that he was great up to last season, but he is not going to have a "good" season this year.

Still doesn't answer why every post of yours has to be a shot at Ortiz...

The folks who still think Ortiz can produce aren't changing their minds until he retires.

    You're obviously not changing yours.

So, what's the point of 15 posts/day, stating hom much he sucks?

Nothing else about the team intersts you at all?

What were his numbers late in the season of 2011 when the sox really needed to win just one game? In game winning situations when he was at the plate, home many game winning RBI's did he have in the last several seasons?

why are you asking me? when i had a point to make i did the research myself. i didn't ask you to check his stats over that time period, i presented the info. quit being lazy. you want me to wipe your fanny for you too??

In case you haven't noticed, everyone is talking about Ortiz at the moment and has been since about the second week of spring training.  I got into the Crawford talk and unloading him.  I am a sox fan but not to the point where I am coming here to blog all the time.  When the red sox pay ortiz this much money when the average dh makes 6 million, then it is time to come to the blogs.

So, you don't come here unless you've got something to whine about.

    What a shock...

Because you know he has not been clutch over the last several years.  He has been good enough to accumulate numbers against fair pitchers and once in a while get lucky against some good ones.  When the game is on the line and the pressure is on, Ortiz has not been the Ortiz of 07 and earlier for a few years.

a run in the first is just as important as a run in the 9th... i value production. which Ortiz gives you. but if you really want to make your point why don't you give me some numbers? present the facts.
