I heard that Remy backed his car up in the Fenway parking lot without looking and flattened Wally, the Green Monster. Ever since then there has been this parade of injuries. Yazzer heard about this and blamed it all on CC. Georom blamed it on Tito. Softlaw blamed it on the union slug at the gatehouse.

You blame the game of baseball..Thats y your considered a great hitter when you hit only 30% of the time...They happen (slumps)..Winning streaks also happen, and I would consider it a very safe bet that the Sox go on another one before its all said and done..Too much talent..

Re: Where does the blame lie for the recent slump?

THE BLAME, IF ANY HAS TO BE ASSIGNED TO THE
GENERAL MANAGER . THE TEAM BASICALLY IS AS
POSTER "FRANKN" DESCRIBED. IT IS OLD, INJURED,
AND WAY OVERRATED. FRANKN HAS IT ANALYZED
PERFECTLY. WE HAVE NO HITTING. THE DOG DAYS
OF AUGUST HAVE COME, AND THE TEAM HAS SHOWN
ITS TRUE COLORS. WE HAVE ONLY SPORADIC
POWER; AGON IS BASICALLY A GAP HITTER AND
A SLOW, WADDLING RUNNER; YOUK HAS SEEN HIS
BEST DAYS, AND IF IT WEREN'T FOR PEDEY AND
JACOBY, WE WOULD BE MUCH WORSE. LOOK FOR
TAMPA TO CATCH US BY SEPT 1, AND PASS US FOR
A WILD CARD. OF THE NEXT 8 GAMES VS. KC AND
TEXAS, WE WILL BE VERY LUCKY IF WE TAKE TWO.
THE YANKS WILL BE AT LEAST A HALF A DOZEN
GAMES AHEAD BY THE FIRST OF SEPT.
EPSTEIN AND THE BRAIN TRUST REFUSE TO BRING
UP YOUNGSTERS AND RELY ON OLD NAMES LIKE
SCUTARO, TEK, WAKE, ETC. YOUK IS ON HIS WAY
OUT AND WE HAVE NO RH POWER OFF THE BENCH.
    YEAH..WE BEAT THE YANKS A FEW...SO WHAT !!!
THEY ARE AHEAD NOW, AND WILL BE WAY AHEAD
IN A FEW WEEKS. WHY ??? BETTER TALENT AND
BETTER SCOUTING. IT'S AS SIMPLE AS THAT.
THEIR FARM SYSTEM IS FAR MORE PRODUCTIVE
AND THEY MAKE BETTER TRADES...I.E. GRAND-
ERSON, WHO THEY STOLE FROM DETROIT.
LOOK AT JOBA, HUGHES, LOGAN, NOESI,
    ROBERTSON, GARDNER, WADE, NOVA....AND TELL
ME THEY DON'T HAVE AN IDEA WHAT THEY'RE
    DOING.

The Red Sox set records for runs scored in July, this is just the baseball gods evening the score. Get the slump out of way then Sox will set themselves up for a strong finish in Sept.

Re: Where does the blame lie for the recent slump?

Actually, it's Francona's fault.  Bosox1941, georom, yazzer, and a couple others can tell you that all losses are the manager's fault and no one else's.  He doesn't pitch, field, hit, throw, or run the bases, but he does make out the lineup card and control substitutions (with that deep, deep bench), and he is simply making the wrong moves.

Great post. Babe doesn't like it however when the RSN wet blankets get criticized. You see Babe identifies with anyone that is an irritant. He in fact has some pet mosquitos in a terrarium.

Here is another brutally honest opinion folks.

#1 Jon, Clay, Beck, Wake and even Bedard have pitched as well as we expected.

    #2
Lackey is almost as easy to hit as a batting machine.  Again today 6 IP, 6 hits, 3 BB and 4 runs which could have been 6 if Aceves didn't do his thing again.  Miller shows promise but was a bit disappointing and Weiland didn't really impress all that much in the two starts I watched.

    #3
Adrian, Ells, Pede, David, Scutaro, Reddick and Salty have done well for the most part and Tek has done what we expected so far.

    #4
Youk has struggled a bit, McD & Lowrie have shown us all why we are in trouble with them in our lineup   Aviles, the jury is still out on and Crawford has been close to awful.

    #5
Bard, Pap and Aceves have done a very good job but the rest of our pen has been hit or miss.  Jenks has been a complete lost cause

#6 We simply can't keep our best lineup on the field for a week straight and change our BA daily.

    #7
We are about to lose again to the Rays who have the 25th, best offense in baseball and a staff that is decent but close to ours in overall talent.

#8 Our offense appears to be in a complete state of confusion.

#9 Francona has done pretty well considering but why he keeps playing McD is a mystery to the entire RS nation.

#10 We are definitely in a bit of trouble folks but hopefully things fall into place.

Tek has done what we expected so far.

Yes, he has. He's now having trouble catching the ball, hitting the ball or standing up straight. His OBP is just over .300 and his BA is under Mendoza line over the last 10 starts.

But, remember, his CERA is what wins games.

I just pray no one is on base when Tek gets up.  Luckily and unfortunately lately my prayers have been answered.
