In response to royf19's comment:
Couldn't come up with a better description. By this, I mean players who have had short stays but became fan favorites. And I don't mean the stars. Luis Tiant, for example, to me is too much of a star to fit in this category.
Two no-brainers that fit what I'm talking about are:
Two others that might fit the bill:
But it seems like I'm missing some obvious one but I'm blanking right now.
Dave Henderson (who, if fate were different, would have had legendary Big Papi status)
Hideki Okajima (although he didn't have as obvious a spotlight moment, he prevented these moments from happening)
Mark Bellhorn (although maybe not the charisma or sizzle to become a fan favorite in spite of his somewhat unsung contribution)
By your own criteria, I'm not sure I agree with you about Koji. He has become more of a mainstay who has now established elevated performance standards for himself that will be a challenge to perform up to going forward.
Others on the cusp and with high fulfillment potential based upon how coming events play themselves out:
Daniel Nava (although becoming more of the mainstay type)
Quintin Berry (Roberts redux)
Craig Breslow (strong, silent type)
