LOL
the real question IMO is
would maddon want the nyy or RS job
I think he's having to much fun as things are
perhaps in a few yrs he might say
''if you can beat them join them ''
but for now I think he's happy where he is -

no brainer - Maddon
If you asked Yankee fans who they'd rather have Giardi or Maddon
no doubt you'd get the same answer - Maddon
he knows the book like those other guys, but he manages the actual game that's happening and trusts his instincts more often, knows when to forget about playing the percentages -

Maddon. Lot better coach and way better coaching staff. Better at exploiting weaknesses of opponents and pays attention to the small stuff,ex. shifts for Salty batting LH. This guy has a plan and it is obvious. On the other hand I don't think he'd sellout to metric baseball like TF has. A big part of the problem is Bill James. If TF is replaced, it would have to be by a guy that could be manipulated on the inside to perpetuate the metric approach. As long as JH finds value in Bill James then thats the way they'll go. It won't be too hard to find someone. -

Maddon. Much better manager than Francona. Funny how they both were interviewed years back for the job of manager of the Sox. Maddon was favored but the Sox front office thought that they needed someone with experience so they hired Francona. Too bad. -

Maddon but I would take Grady Little over Tippy the seed spitter! Tito is a nice guy from all accounts but he couldn't in game manage a little league team. His tactical skills are bottom of the barrel.Sorry Sox fans! Truth be told it's easy to win with a healthy roster and a team on a hot streak try winning without a couple of stars and your skills as a manager are needed,Tippy can't manipulate a game when needed. -

Maddon. Want an easy example. How about exploiting a weakness? Maddon understands Tek can't stop the running game so his team steals at will. He puts pressure on our pitcher and defense. Francona has no counter.
When we get one of our basestealers on late in a game, they often go late in the count, if they go at all. Instead of putting pressure on the pitcher and defense, we put the pressure on our hitter to hit with two strikes (if they actually steal), or ask multiple guys to get hits to score. It contributes to our 2-56 "trailing late" mark.
Francona has had the tremendous good fortune of having top talent every year. Maddon has to deal with constantly losing his top talent to higher bidders, yet he keeps his team in the thick of things. -

I think Maddon would demand more physical exercise and conditioning which this team might need. Terry is laid back and probably lets a lot of things go because he is more of a friend to our players. Maddon may not be as well liked but in my opinion is a better "all round" manager. -

Francona. High payroll or not, last year 2/3 of the BoSox players were minor leaguers by the end of the year because of an unbelievable number of injuries (Pedroia out for 2 months, Youkilis also for 2 months, Victor Martinez and Varitek, Lowell, Cameron, Buchholz, etc.) Beckett had an off year, and Lackey and Dice-K also disappointed. Yet amazingly the club lost only 1 fewer regular season games than the Rangers (AL champs) and Giants (NL champs). Just barely missed the playoffs. Now that's an amazing managing job.
