why didn't they push the start time back for todays game?

why would they start the game at 1:30 when its supposed to rain from 2 to 6 pm??????? Theres supposed to be a 2 hour window of no rain from 6 to 8pm tonight. They should have pushed the start time back to 6 pm. Then Buchholtz would have been able to pitch 6 or 7 innings atleast before it started to rain. Instead he only got to pitch 2 innings and now we have wasted another good outing by one of our only good pitchers for the 2nd time this week.

I tweeted Peter Abraham of the Globe, said they didnt push the start time back because the game was on National TV.  STUPID!!  although he did say that Buchholtz has been throwing simulated innings in the bullpen and is coming back out to pitch after a 2 hour delay!!!  Game is resuming at 4pm

The last time I checked,  metereology is not an exact science.  One can paint relatively clear time frames for weather activities, but not in such a way as to stop and start in a forementioned/foreplanned way.

If they stopped every game in the fashion you mentioned, it would be worse than airplanes backing up on the tarmac at Logan in a storm ....

Meteorology is getting more accurate, and the proof just might be the game mentioned in the OP because they did in fact finish it--all 9 innings.
