I'd rather have LaRoche over Napoli, but the problem, however, is that he'll cost a draft pick. The Sox would rather not lose any draft picks.

laroche not only costs a draft pick which a rebuilding team should only give up for a front line starting pitcher, but he will not have anywhere near the same power numbers in fenway in any of the three years of his contract as he did last year in washington.
lving in the mid atlantic area we are forced to watch many nationals games and washington's park much more favors lefty fly ball hitters than fenway does. i do not see laroche coming close to the same power production that he achieved when playing 81 games in washington last year.
gomez will hit as many home runs as laroche if he gets the same 550-600 at bats with about the same OBP although laroche is a better fielder. laroche can only play one position while gomez can handle first and third and maybe even some left field if necessary.

I'm not feeling it. He's not bad, but-
1-.783 OPS from 2009-2011, with a 351/142 K/W
2-He'll be 35 for his entire 3rd year.
3-Lose 2nd rounder.
