Why Sox WILL make it to the postaseson

about 10 games remaining, many of us start to give up on the most talented team in major.  But here's a good news.  7 of the remaining 10 games are against division worst Orioles and 3 are against yankees whom we owned this year.  on the other hand, Rays and Yankees playing each other for 6 games.  Rays play Blue Jays, Yankees play us for the remainders.

    Scenario

    1. Yankees blow out Rays: Rays probably out of the WC race by then.

    2. Rays blow out Yankees: all 3 teams compete for division title and WC (Sox should be on top since we play 6 games against O's)

    3. Split:  Sox have chance to catch up to Yankees by winning the series against O's and run away from the Rays

Sox against Yankees 10-5 this year
Sox against O's 7-3 this year

    Rays against Blue Jays 10-5
Rays and Yankess 5-6 Yankees up by 1

Rays probably win the series aganst Jays but they nevet swept the series.
Rays most likely split the series against Yanks

If Sox wins 4 games out of O's and 2 games out of Yanks, Sox still have best chance to win the division.  Go Sox!!!! Rise Sox Nation!!

And then what do we have to look forward to?

Sox getting swept in 3 in Detroit?

    *  Verlander takes Beckett

    *  Lester gives up a lead off walk on a bad call and then implodes from there

    *  Lackey gives up 10 runs before he can record his 10th out?  Aceves come in to put out the fire but it's way too late

Line Up features Avilla playing 3rd and batting 2nd w/ Carl Crawford batting 6th

The Yankees aren't playing that much better than the sox lately. I really doubt that they'll blow out the Rays given their (rays) excellent rotation. Furthermore, the O's haven't been pushovers lately: this IS their playoffs right now and they're going to play hard. They aren't that tired. The Sox/Yankees should be an interesting series: it will be like two bumbling idiots going at each other. Both teams have hit the wall- expect some sloppy play.
The scenario you've painted for the sox is just too rosy. I expect the relative positions of the teams to stay much as they are right now from here on out.

Due to the injuries and position players and ths season opening pitching starting pitchers we don't have too much to look forward. Tough luck. Just because you are a passionate fan doesn't mean that you were guaranteed a trophy or are entitled to one. Try to realize that only one team out of thirty wins the trophy.

The sox only have to basically play a bit better than the Orioles than the Rays have to play against the Yankees.  I like the Sox chances better.

The Sox will make the playoffs, simply because they're playing the horrid Orioles for 7 out of the last 10 games.
They'll beef up their batting stats on the pathetic O's pitching, and everyone will praise the unstoppable juggernaut offense. The same one which wilts when faced with good pitching, such as the Rays and Phils staffs.
Reddick will hit 25 singles with nobody on base in blowouts, and everyone in the media will go nuts.
Then the Sox go out in the first round of the playoffs to the Tigers.
    A 200 million dollar bust.
"Best team ever"? Not even the best team in the AL.

they aren't even close to being a 200 million dollar team

you'd have to add CC Sabathia and Robinson Cano to the roster just to get close to 200 million.......

Oh, excuse me. 160-180 million Titanic.
The point is, the Sox are locked in a life and death struggle against a team with a 42 million dollar payroll.
Imagine if Ellsbury wasn't having a career season. what a total disaster this team and the horribly constructed outfield would have been!
Injuries are a part of sports. It's who has the depth to compensate that makes the difference.
Last years Phillies had more key injuries to their club than last years Sox. Yet, they made the playoffs.
This team looks like they're in the middle of a Halloween Zombie Pub Crawl.

The Rays (vs. the Jays and Yankees) don't have it in them to outplay the Sox (vs. the O's and the Yankees) for the remaining games. It will be a case of too little too late.

And all the whining, hair-pulling and hand wringing going on here will be for naught! (It's extremely entertaining though!)

I'm a baseball fan - of well played, smart ball games.  Hustling.  Running everything out.  Playing when in some pain.  Pitchers running over to cover first on anything hit to their left.  Outfielders hitting the cut off man.  Getting the bunt down.  Catching fly balls.  Protecting the plate w/ 2 K's.  Keeping your composure after giving up some hits or walks.  etc etc etc

I am not sure if you can classify what the Sox have been playing as baseball.  Even w/ the win last night I got confused w/ that game and Monday Night Football.
