It is more a matter of how you spend your money, than what you can afford.  And the difference between Ross and Gomes is the same as the difference on Martin, Swisher, and Chavez combined.

I'm just speaking on my own behalf.  If you don't see the difference between rooting for a long time player and MVP like Pedey and Cano, or a one-year player like Ross or Ichiro, then we'll have to agree to disagree.

Just so I understand, that means either Swisher was not your RF last year, or Ichiro was not your RF this year.  Right?

Your opening day lineup last year was

• Gardner LF
• Granderson CF
• Swisher RF

This year, it is projected to be:

• Gardner LF
• Granderson CF
• Ichiro RF

Or put another way, if Ichiro is not replacing Swisher, then who will play RF this year?

I liked Ross but the Gomes will be just as good in left.  Ross cant field any better so we actually got a bargain in Gomes.  Victorino(GG) was needed in right field at Fenway so there was really no sense to picking up Ross once we got Gomes.  

Okay,,so some wanted the Sox to give Ross $8.5 mil.  What was he going to do for the Red Sox?  What has he done?
