    In response to royf19's comment:

My 99 to 102 RBI-prediction looks pretty good.

And I apologize for being so pessimistic about GP for Ortiz. I had him at 130 to 135 games played. Today, he played his 135th games, so he'll end up at 137 or 138 games.

Playing DH is like doing the dishes for 8 hours a day.

I never bought the idea that once he returned from the DL, he should be babied.

    Papi has a higher HR% (5%) than 2002, 2008, 2009, and 2011. He's within .003 of his HR% in 2001, 2007, and 2010.

Only from 2004 to 2006 did Papi have a significantly higher HR rate. (2012 as well, but in only 383 PAs).

If you combine his last 2 years, his HR rate is higher than his HR rate from 2007 to 2011 combined or any combination of 2 years within that timeframe.

    His career HR% is 5.2%.

His last 2 years combined, his last 3 years combined and his last 4 years combined are all over 5.2%.

The clown sees the "decline of pop".

    The clown is blind.

Re: will ortiz reach 100 rbi

    In response to RedSoxFireman's comment:

Ortiz has started and finished 111 games, so far. He's had 590 PA this season, down from 626 PA in 2009, 606 PA in 2010, 605 PA 2011, before dropping off in 2012.

2008  491 PA  (Physical Constituion Decline begins)

    2007   667 PA

    2006  686 PA

    2005  713 PA

    2004   669 PA

It's quite clear that giving him more days off and using him off the bench more as worked better. It remains to be seen how this year's work load affects years 2 of his contract.

I don't get this started and finish thing, he is slow does it really matter if he came out for pinch runner in the ninth? He missed the start of the season and will still have over 600 at bats. Are you really this foolish?

Re: will ortiz reach 100 rbi

The whole Papi projection models were based on how much he'd play after he had returned from the early season injury.

A clown said he should end up with no more than 105 games. The same clown said he should be rested once a week, and that Papi had "lost his pop" based primarily on his belief that Papi would end up with less HRs due to much less PAs. Neither has happened.

Once back from the DL, Papi has played at a pace equal to or greater than any year since 2005's 159 game season. He's hit HRs at about the same rate as any year after 2007. His HR rate from 2012 to 2013 is greater than from 2008 to 2011. He has more XBHs per PA this year than 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011. He is not going backwards since his return from the DL as the clown suggested.

It is as clear as day.

I wish we could get more "no pop" 30 HR guys on our team for next year.
