    Will They Never Learn

Yep, that's it, keep letting the Yanks hang around.  Before today the Sox had lost 3 or the last 4 and NY is tied in the loss column.  Currently NY is only 1/2 game out Arod returns tomorrow.  This is not good, not good at all.

Would you suggest a hunting party to eliminate several NY players?

The Sox are playing at a clip to win 100 games, you cannot ask the team to play better than that over the course of a season, they have not control if the Yankees happen to play at the exact same rate. When will YOU TROLLS AND COMPLAINERS learn that the Red Sox do not control the record of the New York Yankees?

I know, right? Why can't they just win every game so us wussy fans can relax?

RED SOX FANS....GET READY FOR THE BIG FADE. REALITY IS
STARTING TO HIT IN MID AUGUST. THIS TEAM JUST CANNOT
HIT GOOD PITCHING. THE ACQUISITIONS OF CRAWFORD AND
ADRIAN GONZALEZ ARE GOING TO TURN INTO A PUMPKIN !!
THESE TWO GUYS ARE NOT HOME RUN HITTERS AND EVEN
THOUGH A-GON IS A GOOD RBI MAN, THE RED SOX LINEUP
IS JUST NOT GOING TO BE GOOD ENOUGH TO OUTLAST THE
YANKS . THE YANKEES HAVE MUCH BETTER BATTING FROM
THE RIGHT SIDE AGAINST LEFTIES. I'M NOT GOING TO NAME
THE MAN FOR MAN ISSUE, BUT THEY ARE GOING TO BE IN
FIRST PLACE TONIGHT WITHOUT A ROD. FACE THE FACT, SOX
FANS...THE RED SOX JUST CANNOT HIT. AGE IS STARTING TO
SHOW A BIT. YOUKILIS AND VARITEK WILL NOT GET IT DONE.
WE DO NOT HAVE A SHORTSTOP AS GOOD AS JETER.
PEDROIA IS A GUTSY PLAYER, BUT HE IS NOT CANO, WHO
CAN DRILL 25 HRS A YEAR AND PLAY A PRETTY GOOD D.
A GON WILL NOT MATCH TEX IN HRS. AND THAT;S WHAT
WINS GAMES. LATELY AGON HAS SLOWED CONSIDERABLY.
LASTLY....THE BIGGEST FAILURE IS CRAWFORD. THIS GUY
IS A DISASTER. AN AUTOMATIC OUT !! HE JUST KILLS THE
LINEUP. YOU CANNOT PUT HIM ANYWHERE, WITHOUT HIM
KILLING A RALLY. SO AFTER TONIGHT, THE SLIDE BEGINS.
SLOWLY BUT SURELY THE YANKS WILL OPEN UP THE LEAD
AND BY SEPT. IT WILL BE AT LEAST 6 GAMES. ALL THE SOX
CAN HOPE FOR IS A MIRACLE IN THE PLAYOFF FIRST ROUND.
IT WILL NOT HAPPEN. THE HITTING IS NOT THERE.
WHEN ELLSBURY IS YOUR LEADING POWER GUY, YOU ARE
    IN DEEP TROUBLE.

TO JIM DAVIS WITH THE "WAHH" REMARK. YOU WON'T BE
LAUGHING IN SEPT. WITH THE SOX ABOUT 8 GAMES OUT AND
FADING. THIS TEAM DOES NOT HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO WIN.
THE YANKS HAVE CAUGHT THEM AND ITS OVER. THEO'S GAMBLE
FAILED. CRAWFORD WAS A BUST. AGON JUST HITS SINGLES
AND DOUBLES TO PAD THE AVERAGE. THAT WILL NOT WIN
GAMES !! THE YANKS HIT HOME RUNS AND DRIVE IN RUNS.
WE GOT SIX HITS IN TWO GAMES TODAY. THAT IS PATHETIC
    BY ANY STRETCH OF IMAGINATION. CRAWFORD IS AWFUL;
PAPI HAS A BAD FOOT; YOUKILIS WILL END UP HITTING ABOUT
.255. THE ONLY HOT HITTER WE HAVE IS JACOBY. SO....THINK
ABOUT IT JIM....CAN JACOBY CARRY THIS BUNCH OF SAD SACKS
WHEN THE YANKS CAN TROT OUT A-ROD, GRANDERSON, CANO,
TEIXEIRA, SWISHER, AND JETER EVERY NITE. AND THEIR
SUPPORTING CAST OF POSADA, GARDNER, NUNEZ AND SWISHER
AREN'T BAD EITHER. THEY HAVE BALANCE AND CAN ATTACK
BOTH RIGHTY AND LEFTY PITCHERS. BOSTON IS JUST NOT
EFFECTIVE VS. LEFTIES BECAUSE WE HAVE NO REAL RIGHT
HANDED POWER. AVILES, DARNELL, SALTY, ARE A JOKE AND
CAN'T COMPARE TO JETER, SWISHER, NUNEZ,JONES, TEIXEIRA
AND POSADA FROM THE RIGHT SIDE, AND THAT DOESN;T EVEN
INCLUDE A ROD WHO RETURNS ON WEDNESDAY.

the sox are fading and play below their talent level. they better get it together or tampa will catch them for the final playoff spot.. yankees will most likely win the division but that doesnt matter in baseball..

Exactly. I've never understood why some fans seem to think the Sox players have just gotten bored and decided to let the Yankees pass them. As hard as it may be for some to accept, the Yankees are a good team, and good teams tend to win games sometimes.

Not really sure how this is any different than last year...or the year before..or the year before...or the year before...or the year before...

We are always either looking to catch up with the Yanks or feeling them nipping at our heels - it's what brings the Thrill of Victory/Agony of Defeat to the whole ballgame.   Anyone who expects us to have a 20 game lead over the Yanks by August probably also expects Megan Fox to appear at their doorstep and say, "I brought you a flying car that runs on air.  Also, I'm moving in because I love you.  I've already talked to your wife, she is so totally on board with this.  And, here's a trunk full of cash.  And the government said you don't have to pay taxes anymore."

Yanks are a good team.  But so are we.  And unless the Yanks replace some of their players with a Cardboard Standee of Xena Warrior Princess and a squirrel, they will probably always continue to pester us with a close race.

If you can't handle the heat, get outta the kitchen.  this is the AL East.  Yanks and Sox are always going to be slugging it out like this.  Would you rather have it another way?  This is what it is all about.  You want a walk in the park?  Doesn't exist.  Its baseball. Its AL East baseball.  No walks in the park.  Always grueling.  Always nailbiting.  Personally, I am good with that.  Real good with it.  Because the alternative is having nothing to play for with autumn approaching.  Nerve-wracking?  Check.  Frustarting and scary?  Check.  Yee-hah.  Nothing like it in sports.  Buck up little campers.

Come on now Red Sox team...you're letting down a nation of bandwagon fans by "letting the Yanks hang around."

Shame on you, now let's "Git 'er done!"....don't you know this lineup should have clinched first in June by going undefeated?....don't you know the Yankees paid millions for a second-rate team? Don't you know the small market teams look at out lineup and simply give up?

Posted by kjfitone[/QUOTE] they are currently 9.5 out for div and 9 out for the WC...7(including today) left vs Sox...8 left vs Yanks( incl rainout), they would need to be next to perfect against both, or the Yanks and Sox would have to go into a serious tank against everyone else for the Rays to overtake either..not that it couldn't happen but i imagine both our teams will play well for the duration..

Those of us who were Sox fan's long before 2004 know that this is not the time to panick and since we hold the tie breaker this year I would say the Sox are in pretty good shape!
