Ortiz batted third 14 times this season. Numbers pretty comparable to when he batted 4th.

    Drew to the bench

The idea that he is a great fielder

has been created to justify him in the lineup

He is just average at ss at best.

Drew will play.  Benching him is a panic move.  He has made every play and that is fine by me.

Drew ia going to set a record tonight

Lowest batting average in post season baseball history.

Why is he in the lineup

his contribution will have to be on D..besides, neither team is exactly lighting up the scoreboard so premium D helps..

Some would have been in total agreement with you----these are the last three games of a magical season---we must win two to be WS Champs. I'm not willing to put Xander at SS and bench Drew. An injury there's no question---I like the D on the leftside right now. Pitching and Defense wins tight games. I want Ross the rest of the way also. Boston Strong up the middle keeps you in games.

Xander is not quite ready for Prime Time at SS.

Who knew that David Ortiz would be the more mobile of the two first basemen in a World Series game?

I am not joking and you are very rude.
What I said about Drew is 100% factual

    I

The fact that you are a joke is also 100% factual. We have told you again and again: its either Drew or Middlebrooks. Neither can hit the baseball, but at least Drew can play defense. Middlebrooks is useless. Both cannot sit.

Actually I think the lowest BA in post season history would probably be 000. Just a wild guess.

Drew is hitting horribly. With that said it really is beyond odd that people think that after being the starting SS for the entire year he is going to be benched at this point in the season.

Managers tend to do odd things. They look at a players season, and career, and overall ability more then they do the past 10 games.

Also, defense is 50% of the game. Many 'knowledgeable' fans conveniently forget that.

I agree, the larger point is though that Drew is more likely to get back to his career norms than hitting this badly. that is why the manager sticks with him. He goes with his last 1,000 at bats to decide how good he is. Not his last 40.
