Re: Worst loss of the year?

The worst loss of the year will be when Papelbon blows a save when we are up by 3 on a late August game. It is too early to panic but there are some storm clouds on the horizon. Matzusaka and lackey are very inconsistent , the new names in the bull pen are unreliable , the catching is the worst in the american League and Crawford, Youkilis, Drew and Scutaro have got to make a more consistent contribution. Last year Francona pulled a rabbit out of the hat to reach 94 wins and he will have to pull another one this year. If the Sox are within 5-6 at the half way mark and some of these issues are resolved positively, we have a chance to make the playoffs.

When is the last time we heard ANYTHING from Theo explaining why his BIG singings absolutely suck?

I really feel that this team altough very well paid and hyped, is simply not a good team Poor overall starting pitching, poor clutch hitting, a very poor manager, bad hitting coach, and an average defense at best , all adds up to a not so good team. I love the Red Sox, but they're simply not a good team.

That was a sad loss in the 13th, at 3 am.  Far worse than a blowout.  You don't watch a blow-out for 8 hrs on the edge of your seat and cheer for joy when Youk hits a ball that ortiz could have scored from first on.  Marco is dead to me after jogging us into defeat.  He thought that ball was gone.  He wasn't even running until he got to second.

[QUOTE]I can name one.  He is playing with one of the largest pitching contracts in all of baseball.  He has been a complete bust his first two years and he didnt even get on the 2010 WS SF Giants roster.  His name....Herman....Barry Zito.  Thats rigth the Giants paid him the most at his signing and he did not even help them with one pitch of a World Series that they went on to win because of amazing pitiching. In Response to Re: Worst loss of the year? :ackey

Lackey gives up plenty of hits, but he gave them over 200 innings and led the staff in quality starts. If he does only that every year of his contract, I won't have huge complaints.

The sad thing about Lackey is, he thinks his pitching is fine. It's the "other guys".

Re: Worst loss of the year?

If Tito is allowed to stay, these last two losses may not be the worst. There will be plenty later. If Tito, Theo, and the pitching coach, who doesn't know how to coach older players, aren't all fired soon, the season will be a washout. If and only if these three incompetents are fired soon and competent people brought in, then this will turn out to have been the worst loss of the year.

The Sox need to try to trade Theo to the Indians for Masterson. If that can be pulled off, then the Sox will win the AL East.
