The fan that interferred with the fly ball in center looked like he almost fell off the wall. What a shame that would have been. JBJ would not have been able to break his fall. Oh, well, something to ponder about.

Game 1 to the Yanks 9-3 in Ellsbury's return to Fenway Park..Yanks use a balanced offense geting 2 hits each by Ellsbury, Jeter, Beltran and Ichiro and 3 hits by McCann and strong pitching by Tanaka, who settles down after surrendering back to back homers from Ortiz and Napoli..an unusually ineffective Lester gives up 8 runs(3 earned) in 4 2/3 innings...Game 2 pits Micheal Pineda(2-1/1.00) vs John Lackey (2-2/5.25)

The Red Sox gave him the oppurtunity. They drafted and develped him. The Yankees paid him.

a bit of a confusing ruling..if they were citing FI, why did they give Ellsbury third base???

Hey Jete!  Great showing by your boys last night.  Sox are not ready for the Yanks at all.

I think the determination was based on the fact that he would've cruised into 3rd with or without the interference.  (Actually, that had inside the park job written all over it.)

Because he didn't have anyone to put in, he leaned heavily on Badenhop and Breslow,  Monday. which is why he had to use Taz. Needed Lester to go a few more innings. A pitcher will have to be called up today, which will delay activating Victorino, until tomorrow.

The Yankees have a very potent lineup. No doubt about that. The key for Lackey is to keep the ball down. When he is up in the zone, he gets hit hard. It sure would be nice to take an early lead for a change. Can't keep coming from behind all the time.

    Stabbed by Foulke.

Red Sox demote Daniel Nava, summon Alex Wilson - The Boston Globe

Wilson is being added as depth for the team’s overworked bullpen, while Nava has been slow to hit thus far this season.

Tough one for Nava. Wilson is just there in case Lackey gets knocked out early . He will go back down when Shane comes back.

So sick of Victorino and Middlebrooks being out.

    1  Boegarts, R, SS

2  Vic, R/S, RF  (maybe JBJ)

    3  Pedey, R, 2B

    4  Ortiz, L, DH

    5  Nap, R, 1B

    6  Sizemore, L, LF

7  Middlebrooks, R, 3B (maybe slot Vic here and slide everyone else down)

    8  Ross/AJP, C, R/L

    9  JBJ, L, CF

this is a much different look and an upgrade for sure

'Unusually ineffective Lester.' Actually, he's been ineffective a number of times in the last 3 years. And thanks Jete, for reminding me that they're playing again tonight. I was trying to forget. Unfortunately, there's no BRUINS' game to make the evening interesting. If your Yankees score 3 runs tonight, they will win. With Lackey pitching and looking like his pre- 2013 self, that should not be a problem.

I'd be surprised if Lackey goes 5, but even if he does, wouldn't going just 5 be considered being knocked out early?
