Alas, the Space-fam has decided to try life without cable.  Have been just rocking the Roku box with Netflix, Hulu etc. and all baseball games ... except any in NY.  Ugh.  Hence, the need for a crack.

[QUOTE]Good Morning all....well here we are folks, our 3rd series with the  Sox having won 5 of 6 so far, and now the Sox are playing up to the level many felt they could/would when they were deemed the favorites..this will be an interesting week as both teaams come into this one playing well, the Sox off a sweep, the Yanks off a 2of 3, both teams hitting well, and pitching well, pitching matchups again probably favor the Sox, but as we've seen over the years in the series, don't go by the "expected".. ...important week for both teams as they face tough series after this one...this month could really shape the division heading towards the ASG....hopefully we can three fun game threads...everyone have a great day and enjoy the games...

Ummm...I'm pretty sure the same could be said about any 2 teams that face eachother.

In Response to Re: Yanks/Sox III:
[QUOTE]Yankees have better pitching and hitting, although the hitting is close, especially if Crawford is indeed emerging as the guy Theo signed.  Granderson is having an amazing year and more than makes up for slightly down numbers for Cano and Rodriguez.  Martin a plus, but Swisher and Posada are off.  Lester v. Garcia, Wakefield v. Burnett, and Beckett v. Sabathia gives the Sox a shot, nothing more.  Lester was tagged his last two times out, and Wake's knuckler doesn't always mesmerize the Yankees.  Beckett v. Sabathia could be a classic.  Bullpens vastly favor the Yankees, which could be the key to the series.  If the Sox starters go only 5 or 6 innings and just keep the Sox in the game, the Yankees could win all three games by pounding the Sox bullpen.

BA: Red Sox .270, Yanks .251

    Runs: Yanks .293, Redsox .290

XBHITS: Red Sox 199, Yanks 185 (47% of which are HR)

TB: Red Sox 900, Yanks 858

SLG: Yanks .445, Red Sox .435

OBP: Red Sox .342, Yanks .334

SB: Yanks 48, Red Sox 47

BB: Yanks 224, Red Sox 210

ERA: Yanks 3.45, Red Sox 4.17

OPP BA: Red Sox, Yanks .248

HR ALLOWED: Red Sox 52, Yanks 45

DEFENSE: Red Sox 1st, Yanks 8th

At this point, the Yanks have the pitching advantage (critical) and the Red Sox have the edge on offense. In short, this 3-game series is a toss up.

but I see no edge on offense

Spaceman, my advice would be to listen to the game on radio and use mlb.com gameday to show the pitch locations, etc.  Radio is a great way to "watch" a game.  My best to spacegirl.  Mrs. Bialystock is OK with me going to a sports bar, but I'm too lazy and cheap.

    Re: Yanks/Sox III

Stats are great.  Most of the Sox stats come from the slump.  When they beat the Yanks 3 games in a row.  And later, when they were coming out of the slump.  When they beat the Yanks 2 of 3 games.

Aren't stats fun?  Guess that is why the only thing that matters is playing the game.

It is hot, the ball will be flying tonight.   Will the real J. Lester please stand up and pitch ....

Glad Teixeira is back.  That HBP was very clearly an errant throw by Lester.

The two big questions for tonight:  can the Yankees hit the knuckler?  can Tek catch the knuckler?  Aceves pitched 4 or 5 on Saturday, so probably won't be ready to go tonight.
