    Yanks/Sox IV

GM all Happy Friday...Yanks return to Fenway to continue their season series vs the Sox, Boston currently remains in 1st place, it's a very important series for the Yanks, attempting to cut into the WC race lead(Yanks currently 5.5 GB).. not a make or break series for the Sox, Yanks come in after winning 3 of 4 against the Angels and a bit less depleted than their last trip to Boston adding Alfonso Soriano and the returns of Granderson and A-Rod..Sox lead season series 6-3.....hopefully the Yanks recent offensive showing will help them going forward trying to play their way into a playoff spot...an uphill climb for sure...Game 1 pits Andy Pettitte vs. Felix Doubront

That this is an important series for the yankees is an under statement.

The Sox would like to bury the Yankees 2013 season for once and for all the Yankees would like to make a statement.

These will be some very intense games.

It is not a imporant series just for the Yankees.  It is also important series for the Red Sox cuz they have 10 more games left against the yankees.  That is alot of games.  If Yankees goes hot against the Sox, the Yankees could easily knock out the Sox from the division title race!!

Sox need to take every series seriously against the Yankees as well for anyone!!

With the division race still very tight, every series for the remainder of the year will be an important one - especially the head to head series.

As TWM said, we would like nothing more than to bury the Yankees once and for all, although I don't think that's going to happen.   Even if the Yankees don't make the playoffs, they would like nothing better than to play spoilers against the Sox.  The Yankees have a renewed energy, unfortunately, and they are going to be tough to beat.

As always, it should be fun and interesting.

Zac- Great job on the pic!

    Big series for both team.

Sox need to maintain 1st place and are heading out on a 6 game west coast trip.

NYY, with the help of the A-Roid circus, has helped the NYY gain ground in the ALE. Wonder how many players are whispering under their breath about that.

Anyway, lots of games remain between these 2 and its always a great game no matter their records or where they are in the standings...

By the way, nic pic zacTongue Out

Plus several more games with Baltimore and Rays. Bats have to wake up and Buch must come back even to give RS a chance for post season. Right now, we are desperate for a winning sreak before going to left coast. We could be anywhere in the race from first to fourth by labour day

Yanks have to be the underdogs, but the Sox right now are the ones in trouble.  Pitching OK, but hitting and fielding not so hot.

    We agree on something.

But you know what? The Sox and Yankees imo take a bum rap for their long games.

Both teams when the line ups are healthy really work over the pitching. Patience at the plate causes the game to go longer in time.

Agree.  The Red Sox have to play better and start a new winning streak instead of losing streak.  If this losing streak continues they could end up not making the playoffs.

The Yankee lineup is a lot more potent than it was a month ago.  Sox are going to have to score early and often to beat them.

    Stabbed by Foulke.

game 1 to the Yanks, strong outing from Pettitte, offense rides HR's from Reynolds and Soriano to a 10-3 rout..Yanks find success against Doubont who has pitched well against the Yanks during the season, the loss gives the Sox a losing skid they've been able to avoid for much of the season...should get great weather for Game 2 which pits far and away the Yanks best pitcher this year Kuroda vs Lackey..have a good Saturday everyone...
